if you are talking about the forest areas in chapter 6 after you emerge from the underdark here is what you get:
not too terribly much, although there is still quite a few magical items, most of them are basic, but the "good" ones are: a time stop scroll ( if you kill the mage before it casts it ) and the mana bow +4 ( a +4 longbow that gives you 20% magic damage resistance )
so other than that, it's basically just XP and some mediocre magic items ( and perhaps some potions of extra healing ) so i suppose if you are really scrapped for cash, between the 3 areas you might hit up around 15000 GP or so of gear between the areas
but in short, if you are worried that you are going to miss out on anything sweet if you don't do them the answer to that is: no you will not
@sarevok57 No, the Wild Forest is a new area opened up by meeting Neera in Athkatla for the second time.
@Sarius If you don't intend to do Neera's NPC quests, going there is basically pointless (there is almost no XP, a lot of dangerous traps and basically no items around there). However, even just picking up one of these quests (after you're done with the wild forest, you're going to get to a secret wild mage hideout), the one for the little girl, is totally worth it, as you get what is basically an amulet of protection +2 as a reward. Some other quests have decent rewards as well.
Wild Forest has a quest to actually find Neera's enclave. That one again has some side quests and the possibility to recruit Neera for SoA/ToB. It's a kind of stronghold for Neera as well if you have her in party. Wild forest is the riddled entrance to that enclave but once you done it, you have direct access.

Noteworthy items:
You get a few other things as well, but they are not that noteworthy.
Besides this, you get to have Neera in your party and trigger her questline, which gives you:
That's almost all about it. If you ask me, I'd recommend you go with Neera's quest: there's a lot to gain from it, especially in terms of Magic items.
