Well as an elven archer im gonna specialize in longbows, not sure wether id have to go longsword(s) as a backup tho. So any tips on that are appreciated.
I do have skype.. but for me speaking english is much harder then writing and reading. Im flexible tho so whatever the party wants. Not sure if i can skype tonight tho as my GF will be here.
TBH i am not that experienced with this game, so i dont know what kind of magic items are there for me to reserve. I think we can just discuss and agree on things in game tho.
any tips for archer? do i need a longsword(s) for when enemys get too close?
Yeah probably better to have at least one melee weapon for when people get up close. You are better off using a 2 handed weapon though, like greatwords or halberds, since you can't equip a shield while a bow is in your offhand.
Thx for the tip, is archer capable of wielding a greatsword tho? And i didnt really understand what you were saying about the shield, isnt longbow 2 handed?
I would like to reserve any elven chain they may have added to the game, ring of wizardry, a nice sling, a nice shield, maybe bracers of dex if I am lacking a little. Hehe. Wisdom tomes? :P
Mainly the first two
Also at the moment I am inclined to go Gnome Cleric/Illusionist so I get a kit. I know I lose a bonus spell for 17 wisdom instead of 18, but I think the extra spell levels are better. And I won't get a level where I could use Horrid Wilting, so I am not losing much from necromancy
What do you guys think?
Edit: Also guys I reckon Skype would a good bet, easy to use and most have it. Obviously if speaking english is harder we can use in game text as well.
Im not entirely sure what armor an archer can wear pretty sure up to leather/studded and elven chain aswell guess it is a smart idea to discuss gear choices before hand rather then in game. Avoid some discussions.

Yeah, I was just saying that because the longbow is 2 handed, when you swap to a melee weapon, the 2h weapons are better - the advantage of using a one handed weapon is normally that you can use a shiled with it. But since you cant use a shiled with it (because you are using your bow) it's better to use a 2h weapon regardless.

The meat shields up front should allow you to stay at range. You'll do more damage that way.
What springs to mind though, is how much of a pain it always was to take down skeletons with a bow, at 1 point per hit because they resist piercing damage. For those occasions, it may be good to invest a leftover proficiency point in some blunt weapon.

Ah now i understand, but thats why i typed longsword(s) cuz am pretty sure archer can dual wield just aswell as a pure ranger. Specially with an elven sword bonus isnt it better to go dual wield longsword or something?
I would like to reserve any elven chain they may have added to the game,
Nice try... no comment
I am pretty sure Trent said somewhere when talking about adding weapons and items for underused categories he mentioned they were adding Elven chain. It is the only reason I brought it up, hoping that his tweet has come to fruition pre launch, not post.
It never occurred to me it may seem like I was prying info from you, though I am obviously a subtle genius, so subtle I didn't realise it.

Unfortuinately, when you quick swap during combat to another weapon slot, you can't change what is in your offhand (i.e. shield or another weapon) without going into your invetory to do it (which you don't want to do in the middle of combat).
Hopefully you wont be in melee range too often though so it should be a moot point.

That type of sneakiness must have come from all those wisdom tomes you've been reading

Thanks for the tip, id rather stick to swords for RP reasons tho but as always i can be flexible
Whatever you do, be sure to first test in-game whether there is even a penalty for shooting a bow in melee. If there isn't, forget the melee weapon and just keep shooting at point blank range.
I'll be using the 2h swords most definitely, especially combining Spiders Bane Free Action with Dispel Magic makes Web spells much less of a pain.
I also agree that we don't really need 2 Paladins, as having one high Charisma character is enough, not to mention a Dwarven Fighter etc have several advantages.
Also if we're bagsying special items etc, I'd claim dibs on Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise or possibly Dexterity. I guess tomes etc depends on what I roll, although I imagine my Constitution would probably benefit.

When shall we start? Straight away after release?
I'm happy to fill in as any roll we are ending up missing however.
Im not sure if we dont either so lets just keep in touch.
So any tips on that are appreciated.

Plau if we get enough can just form 2 groups instead of one.
