Crashes during character creation (BG2EE)

My game keeps crashing during character creation. At some point between race and skill points it just goes to the desktop, no warning and no further information. Clean install, no mods, just trying to play the game after I bought it.

Windows 8.1
Nvidia GT970

Hi @bloodforthebloodgod8, welcome to the forum.

Would you be able to run DXDIAG, save and post the results. It provides a listing of drivers as well as system stats. Could you also upload your baldur.lua. You will need to rename a copy to baldur.lua.txt.

Where was the game bought and did you install it into the default folder?

That should be enough to start with.

Go to Documents/Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition and delete the baldur.lua file. Download this one: https://support.baldursgate.com/attachments/download/22501/Baldur.lua from here instead.
