@jjstraka34 , David was buffed with divine magic, probably Bless and Bull's Strength, plus he had feats in Rapid Shot, Point Blank Shot, Weapon Focus: Sling, and Improved Critical: Sling.

He probably had grand-mastery in slings too. All that time spent with the sheep taking pot shots at wolves and lions...

But only fighters can get Grand Mastery in weapons, right?? Who would waste the points on slings??

Are you implying that David was a Paladin, or maybe a Ranger? I guess I just figured him as a run-of-the-mill fighter. He sure didn't display a whole lot of wisdom in his portrayed life...

I was more just speculating if anyone has made a Fighter in 2e and then done a sling run. Seems pretty niche if so. I use them almost exclusively on my Mages and Druids.
Slings were surprisingly effective weapons back in the day, being used as ranged weapons in ancient times in places where quality wood for bows was not widely available. The sling helps launch a rock much farther and much faster than you could with your arm alone, and a heavy, fast-moving rock could easily crack a skull. I'm not sure exactly how historically accurate the tale of David and Goliath is, but it's perfectly possible for an average-sized or even slightly small human to use a sling to stun a large man long enough to grab his sword and start hacking off his head. If David hit Goliath in the teeth or caved in his eye socket, that would be enough to bring Goliath to his knees even without actually fracturing his skull, simply through pain alone.
@LadyRhian I ask because you pretty quickly dismissed the banning of other religious symbols. You didn't explicitly state it, but you did focus on Christianity.
Yes, because Christianity is the dominant religion in my home country. Also, because it's the dominant religion and has been for so long, Christians are apt to think that seeig their religious sybols everywhere is "Normal" and "Not against the constitution", and if they see other religions getting the same rights as they do, think "something is wrong" and "it's not right".
Witness people wigging out over Rebecca Tlaib being sworn in on a Qu'ran and claiming such is against the Constitution and should not be allowed, because "Swearing in is only allowed on a Bible".
There's a rather nasty description from the 1st century about how to use forceps to remove sling bullets that have been lodged in bones. So I'm more surprised that David vs Goliath is always described as such an underdog situation. I mean, just throwing a stone in some poor sod's face is a sure way to win most fights.
If it did happen in real life, I like to imagine that it looked like the sword vs gun fight in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The Evangelical right still believes in 'spare the rod/spoil the child' and that pastors are the leaders of the 'sheep'. The parents would likely look at this as somehow trying to save the kid's soul.
Regarding the second one, confession of your sins is one of the tenets of the Christian faith, as is forgiveness. As long as this guy has changed his ways it's not a big deal. He should make amends somehow with the woman, however, or his words are meaningless. Having said this, confessing this in front of his congregation to rousing approval smacks of grandstanding. Evangelical preachers are very adept at stirring up fervent emotions and will say almost anything to accomplish this...
I used to think so, but clergy has just the same percentage of pedophilia as the general population, according to the president of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. Although, because child molestation is one of the most unreported crimes, it is difficult to know just how widespread it is. Certainly priests have access to children, which makes all the difference, but so too do family members, janitors, coaches and all variety of other predators in secular situations. We just don't hear about them as often.
Why? Shouldn't a family member commit less than the general population also? A teacher or doctor? Betrayal and hypocrisy is not the sole propriety of religion.

Shouldn't the police be breaking the law less than the average person?

Can you answer a question without using another question? I mean this kindly, in case it comes across otherwise.
Shouldn't a parent care about their own children's welfare more than the average person?

Coy, the founder and former Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, sexually abused at least one girl for over a decade, starting when the victim was only 4-years-old.
The victim told police that Pastor Coy sexually abused her for years. According to reports Pastor Coy forced the girl to perform orals sex, would regularly “finger and fondle her” genitals, and would regularly engage the child in “dirty talk.”
4?! That's disgusting.
