Is there a version of BGEE that works on Catalina? Both my Steam and GOG versions spit out errors and don't start though they look to be 64bit as best I can tell.
Perhaps using the method outlined in this post might fix it? I had the problem in which BGEE wasn't seeing my save directory, but your problem may be of a similar nature.
Basically the method is System preferences -> Security and privacy -> Privacy -> Full disk access, then click the padlock and type in your password. Then click on the '+' button, and find BGEE and add it to your list of apps with full disk access, and finally click the padlock again to lock it.
Hope that works, but if it doesn't I'd suggest reinstalling, or sending in a bug report.
And, of course, the next day the Beamdog version worked fine. No issues. But I guess the steam version isn't exactly the same? As that one still doesn't work.
