Cleric/Thieves can't backstab from sanctuary anymore.
Chant now breaks Sanctuary.
When did they do that to Tiax???

Chant also has a hostile effect. It imposes a luck penalty on any enemies in the area of effect, in addition to the luck bonus it gives to any allies. As such, per their respective spell descriptions, Chant should break Sanctuary, though I haven't gone around cataloguing whether it has in every patch and edition.
It's been a looong while since I played a cleric/thief. I think I remember now. The proper way to do it is to get into sanctuary, then use a potion or ring of invisibility.
As for Chant breaking sanctuary, this is definitely a new feature. Chanting from sanctuary is something I had been doing for ages. It's definitely a grey area. On one hand, it affects enemies. On the other hand, the "target" of the spell is the cleric.
We'll see which approach is used towards the Chant spell in the 2.6 patch (there will be quite a few spells-related fixes there).
Is there a list of the fixes in the next patch anywhere?
I double down on this question.
