Lothander is missing, Broken questline

In the quest "Marek and Lothander", I'm at the stage where I have acquired the Geas Removal Scroll and I am now to meet Lothander at the Blade and Star inn. I know from my previous playthroughs in regular BG that he's supposed to be on the second floor of the building. However, in BG:EE he's missing. I've searched around the whole building and the exterior too, but cannot find the guy.

This is a pretty severe bug, because it not only renders this questline impossible to finish, but consequently kills my whole party in 20 or so in-game days due to the effect of the poison.

    Which city was that?

This looks like the BG1 bug.

    @Balquo

Do you know about this one?

    Update

The city is Balur's Gate SE section.

I suspect this bug might be connected to a certain stage in Rasaad's questline, the one where you need to talk to an NPC on the second level of the Blade and Star inn, the very same area where Lothander is supposed to spawn. I have already completed that quest stage when I've encountered the issue I outlined above.

@Adul Strange. I am unable to test right now but when you left the tent after talking to the Diviner, I assume Lothander talked with you? As once he talks with you and leaves he automatically moves to the Blade and Star Inn. However it could very well be something with Rasaad's quest. I'll have a look when I get home.

@Balquo Yeah, I talked to him after leaving the diviner's tent and he hurried off. I even checked around the market to make sure he isn't still there.

Thanks for checking into this, by the way.

I used the CLUAConsole to spawn Lothander and after that I had no trouble finishing the quest.

In the original game and in BGT this bug usually happened. I'm surprised it's in this game yet.

Does this solution help in BG:EE?

Yeah, however I just needed to spawn Lothander. Marek was already at the Blushing Mermaid afterwards.

    @Adul
So, spawn Lothander using CLUAconsole in the same way.
  • AdulAdul Member Posts: 2,002
@bengoshi I did. The problem was solved for me but the bug that caused it should be fixed.

I can confirm this bug happens for me too.
  • BalquoBalquo Member, Developer Posts: 2,746
@ajwz @Adul Do you happen to have a save before talking to the Diviner? I can't reproduce this and don't see how it's possible. I think we could use "EscapeAreaMove()" instead of setting globals to move Lothan between areas...
  • ajwzajwz Member Posts: 4,122
Yeah - I cant upload it direct to the forums though

@Balquo I kept the save where I had this issue. Should I upload it somewhere?

Reported this on the bugtracker along with a fix.

This is really annoying, I have tried to follow through the quest five times with different dialogue and sequence choices but to no avail. Lothander in BG who's the partner of Marek (who poisons you) is supposed to be waiting on the second floor of the Blade and Stars inn but he's not there. Anyone else having this issue or know of it's solution?

    Is Rasaad in your party?
  • OpiumhandlarnOpiumhandlarn Member Posts: 12
    yep
  • BalquoBalquo Member, Developer Posts: 2,746
Go to the Blade and Stars inn and remove him from your party. Lothander should appear then. Is it a known bug and should be fixed soon.

This is confirmed as working, but if I drop Rasaad, he disappears. How do I rectify this?

    edit: he's in Nashkel. nevermind.

The user and all related content has been deleted.

Because it is fixed. The others are probably using the same save file or a different issue. This is about Rasaad being in your party when doing the Lothander quest.

Looks like (at least on the iPad) having Rassad is not the fix, at least for this bug reporter.

Well that was an issue, just not this new issue. It sounds like an old bug from BG1.

I have just had this very same bug. I think I have the game updated

Yeah I don't have Rasaad in my party and Lothander is still missing. I've tried everything. It's pretty unfortunate that I bought this game and can't complete it because of a game-breaking bug.

This bug definitely still exists in the iPad version. It's pretty game-breaking and frustrating.

I'm having this bug on the PC version. Dropped Rasaad from the party but Lothander still doesn't show up.

@Dalryk Do you have a save file showing the problem? If so, could you upload it here?
