Penalty for learning scrolls from different magic schools?

I just added Dynaheir to my party and it says in her bio that she receives a 15% penalty when learning magic from other schools than hers. But what does that really mean? Does it only mean that she receives a penalty when casting those specific spells? Or does she somehow get an overall penalty on her stats?

Also another strange thing is that she seems to have a alteration spell from start. Why does she have that when she is invoker? Or maybe I did accidentally learn her that spell?

Help would be appreciated!

That penalty concerns only the probability to write those spells into your spellbook. But, of course, U can just make a save before the learning procedure and reload in the case of failure. IIRC, there are no failures on normal difficulty. 😎

Specialists Mage are not supposed to use exclusively spells of their respective schools. If U wanna play Dynaheir as a Pure Invoker, U can look at my thread (it contains info about available scrolls of the Invocation/Evocation school in the game, thanks to @jmerry ) :

Yeah it is correct that there are no failures on normal difficulty when learning new spells.
    Thank you for the help!

U are welcome. Actually, Dynaheir is a very good attacking mage even if U restrict her to use exclusively spells of the Invocation/Evocation school. The only trouble is to find scrolls of some spells. 😼
