Files Glitch?

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but…

Recently something went haywire, and *all* the BG2 files from the Documents folder disappeared. This basically took the game back to pristine just downloaded state as near as I can tell. So I copied folders from BG1 and was able to restore my portraits and display settings. It all *looks* fine now. Obviously all my saves are lost, that only matters a little for the then current playthrough being lost.
But now I’m thinking of another playthrough. I’m planning on rebuilding the game folder (mods) anyway, so no worries there.

But is there anything I need to know, anything I should do with the Documents folder to ensure a clean playthrough? So no problems related to the lost folders bite me in the rear?

    This sounds like a OneDrive issue: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/65867/missing-save-files

    Thank you Julius, but that isn’t quite it. My document files are all gone, there is nothing to find. I had just run updates the day before, my wife suggested sometimes things get moved during updates. But I’ve had no luck finding them.
    I’m willing to write-off the saves. I’m just hoping to avoid a repeat (or any problems related to my “fix”!)

    Not sure then. But the 2.7 beta already has proper Cloud saves support. If you have the games on Steam, you can already try that. If not on Steam, then you'll need to wait for the 2.7 patch live release. But the intent there is to prevent issues like this when players lose saves for one reason or another.

    And I’ll be fine with the Override folder just copied over from BG1?
