This is another simple thing:
When we ask someone to leave our group, there should be 2 dialog otpions:
- Wait here.
- Go to Friendly Arms Inn. We will meet there.
That would be quite helpful thing.

But there is no option "wait here" for them. It is also quite useful.
So there is hope!

Where?!?
He didn't join in the mines, probably because of the Dorn bug. And now I can't find him nor in Beregost, neither in Jopalin's tavern. Please help!

Maybe you don't have newest patch? Do you play on PC? Because tablets still have old version of the game.
If you play on PC, then maybe you've talked with him befor patching the game? If yes, then he is lost forever (In this playthrough, at least).
One addition: I often have a full party when I get to the Gnoll Fortress. I'd like an option to escort Dyna back to Minsc (assuming I left him in Nashkel) without modifying my party. Then, when my party has taken casualties, I might just go back to Nashkel for them...
If an NPC, which permanently leave once you boot them, I would object.
Maybe you could have the option to pay them 200 gold/day they have to wait for you (no matter if you pick them up again or not). They should have their own minds and areas where they feel at home.
I am still trying to find time/space for Eldoth and Skie 14 years after I started this timewastingactivity called BG
"Sorry buddy, I want to take this dwarven cleric along, looks like there's no room for you in the group at the moment."
"Ok, I'll just wait here until you get back."
"But... the mines are going to be flooded, you'll die here! Why don't you just go to the nearest inn?"
"Nah, I feel at home here."
"I don't want you to die! Why can't you just go to the damn inn?!"
"I'm not sure why you want me to waste time at an inn while I could be dead at the bottom of a mineshaft, but fine, I'll consider it if you pay me 200 gold per day."
Maybe put the NPCs on some kind of schedule that determines where an NPC is at any particular time. So based on the in-game time/date, an NPC spawns in various locations as if s/he were actually traveling about.
