IWDII:EE Possiblilities

IamdorfIamdorf Member Posts: 60
I was wondering if you guys think having a kickstarter to get IWDII:EE would help get it. Also if it did, do you think they would give us an expansion like HoW or just the base game again (which I loved but want more of). I like IWD but the second one is my favorite. Anyway, what do you all think?

At this point it seems pretty much impossible. Without the source code it would make it very difficult is what I understand.

Because having a kickstarter would make the source code suddenly appear out of thin air...

Money incentivizes people to find the "missing"

    the page exists

That Wizards of the Coast have already said no the Kickstarters for the EE games.

Although maybe they would do it through the HasLab

I remember it being available on Steam, then it disappeared. Which is why I bought IWD:EE

It's on GOG. DRM-free and no POS Steam Client to deal with!

Deep down I still hope for an brand new Icewind Dale II. Not as a mere Enhanced Edition, mind you, but as a complete remake. True, you'd have to recreate all assets and source codes from scratch. And within a different engine for that to boot. But it's not far fetched at all to expect Icewind Dale II Remaster in ten or so years.

The only question is whenever it will be created by Beamdog or some other company in those ten or so years.

Because with money, you don't really need source code

Well I bought IWDII on GoG. It's funny because I think I got a little spoiled by the new interface and even graphics of EE but still I am excited about playing it again. After I finish my EE game...

It would be pretty cool to tear through Targos with a dark elf shaman ;)

@fluke13 Wow! :o Is this real? Who made this?

it's just iwd2 - targos town copied into the iwdee game. If I made the entire iwd2 game... this would be about 10%. We're getting multiple iwd2ee threads popping up, so I'll just post in one now.

Something like this (a remake/recreation by fans) has always been the most likely way we'd get a modern IWD2. Here's hoping!

@jsaving There's one person currently doing this that I know of. You can read about the progress here: http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=29488
