Side quests and areas after final boss ?

in Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition
I am in final Chapter 7 and before I finish it I don't know if I can continue the side quests or areas (like Durlag's Tower) once the final boss in BGEE is completed ? Or does BGEE end there and point of no return ? I still have quite a lot of XP to go before reaching the cap.

    If you finish the game, the game is over and you either go to dragonspear or start bg2 importing your character. If you want to finish side quests, do it before final fight.

    For BG1 it is normal to finish the game way below 161K XP if you don't use any strategies/exploits to boost your XP. But as far as the final battle goes, you don't hit a point of no return until you actually engage Sarevok, after which there isn't much of a reason to continue since the point of character advancement in BG1 is so you'll be better able to defeat him.

    If you are talking about BG1 have a look at my mod Endless BG1 with which you can play on after Sarevok is dead.
