Hearing this while watching the auroras in the night skies of Skyrim is a sublime experience.

Been listening to this a lot lately. I know JRPG sounds tracks are hit and miss in this community, but Persona 5's OST is absolutely superb. Perhaps one of my favorite in the last 10 or 15 years.

Thanks for sharing this @BallpointMan! I'm personally not quite a fan of JRPGs, but this soundtrack sounds pretty amazing. I like the way the beats are harmonized with the piano and synth accents, but are still not drowning them. The pieces have a funky feel to them, in a good way.

Yeah. The composer has some clear influences from Funk, Jazz, Soul and the more standard pop/rock/electronica. The mix is super stylistic and enjoyable.

I also almost exclusively dislike vocals in JRPG music (It just seems... weird/offputting) - but I really like the Jazz singer they got to work on this album - her name is Lyn Inaizumi.

Anyways. Glad you liked it. I've been listening to it at work(from home) for the past few weeks, it's helped me focus.

From the best RPG on the PS1 in my opinion.

Really fits the old western theme they have going on, though the setting is so much more than that.

    So, don't laugh kay.
The music from Battletoads pause screen.
My little brother lived with me for six months before I joined the army. I swear that was the background music of my life then. Making diner, where was he? Who knows but that music was playing. Cleaning, literally everything I did for months I had it playing in the background. I am washing dishes and dancing to the music of Battletoads. To this day I still hear it in my head. It is awful yet... compelling.

    Ave Maria - Schubert

That's a really nice version of Ave Maria @Rik_Kirtaniya - I got to know this piece from Disney's Fantasia but never liked that version. In Fantasia, it plays right after Mussorgsky's Night on bald mountain and is supposed to be a contrast between evil vs good - but it mostly comes off as really cool vs kind of dull to me. So it's nice to hear a better version.

@JoenSo Indeed, the version of Ave Maria in the Hitman series is just iconic. Blood Money was the first one where they used this, but it later became a track widely associated with and an inseparable part from the entire game series.
This plays on the final level of Blood Money called Requiem where the members of the Franchise (the bad guys) attend the funeral of the supposedly dead Agent 47. Surprise, Agent 47 rises from the casket, dual wielding pistols, and bang-bangs them to Oblivion. Quite a poetically ironic ending. ;)

Diana doesn't actually kill Agent 47 but just fakes his death by that injection so that the Franchise members could be gathered at the funeral and thus eliminated. You can see her keeping the guns on Agent 47's chest.

The game that started my love affair with Thieves, Thief; the Dark Project.
Missions involving the undead and other monsters rather than human treasure guardians, were sometimes described as detrimental to the game, an attempt to hit the lowest common denominator by going into more "shooter" territory. Regardless they now integral to the flavour of the world of Thief, part of its magic and a reminder of unknown dangers beyond the circle of firelight.

You did have the option to fight the undead, though this would severely drain your resources. For me though, nothing will match the delicious terror of desperately picking the locked door of an abandoned house, hoping not to be discovered but all the while the ever increasing noise of heavy, rotten feet, staggering in my direction. Or hiding in the deep shadow of a rocky crevasse, praying that the shambling forms haunting the tunnels, simply pass by without stumbling over me. These things may have been done since in other games, but the first experience of stolen fruit is always the sweetest.

A game not known for its music, more for ambient sounds; You are on a mission to find the Horn of Quintus, an artefact that seems to charm the dead into a state of animation. Kept deep in the burial caverns, you hear the echo of its eerie blast, long before you see it.

Almost certainly been posted before, since it's such a classic.

But the 6-9 era of Final Fantasy brought us some real musical gems.

Unsure if I have mentioned this before but the Hyper Light Drifter original soundtrack is so good! It's beautiful.
