Error in the Friedly Arm Inn after new update

alboy02alboy02 Member Posts: 5
Error in the first inn of the game.
In the very first inn in the game I tried to talk to a woman walking around in the Inn and all I got was Invalid every time, there is supposed to be a entry in the Journal but all that says is Invalid also.
This does not bode well for the rest of the game and has put me off playing any more of the game when there are still errors right at the start.

Probably means you still have some modded files somewhere (probably in the override folder).
You need to make sure you have a clean install as mods will not have been updated to 2.6.5 yet, causing these kind of errors.

I just loaded 2.6.5 BG:EE and talked to the noblewoman on the ground floor of the inn in Candlekeep, and got the regular response.

I have done all of the above that you surgest but still it happens, the woman I am trying to talk to is not the woman in the top right hand room that is with her husband but the one who is walking all around the groud floor, I cannot tell you her name as the pointer says invalid also. The journal says Invalid 66314 if that helps.

@alboy02 Yeah, that's definitely a mod. In the vanilla version there is no one walking around.
Don't know which mod it comes from (if I remember correctly she talks about an escorting knight with a severed arm that is in the infirmary) but that means you do not have a clean install.

Sorry, the woman was not walking around at first but only after I tried to talk to her, she is standing to the upper left of my character as soon as you enter the tavern.
l do not have any mods installed for this game.

Please clear the override folder in the main folder and fully reinstall the game.

Could you attach your save showing this? Also do you have a save before entering the FAI. Attach that as well if you can.

That's the NPC Project I think - and I agree that in the unmodded game the noblewoman is the only woman in the inn.

I will uninstall the game and reinstall then try again to see if there is still a problem.

That woman would be in Candlekeep Inn, that is a quest from mod "bgqe". But OP was talking about Friendly Arm Inn (says title).

I skipped over the topic title as the very first inn would be the Candlekeep in, not the FAI. As OP says 'very first inn' and 'right at the start', it seemed logical to look at CI, not FAI.

I also just checked the FAI, but all commoner ladies walking respond normally.

There's also the reference to the woman being with her husband, which seemed to apply to Candlekeep.

I have reinstalled the game and the woman is not there. Thanks for all your help.
I have all my BG games on Steam and have noticed they do not update automatically, does anyone know how to update them as my brain is somewhere else at the moment.
