Misandrist / Misogynist: better names?

NifftNifft Member Posts: 1,065
I'm thinking about modding two of the Evil NPCs to each gain a perk when attacking enemies of a particular sex.

Specifically:
- Shar-Teel: +1 to attack rolls when attacking male foes -- Iron Maiden
- Eldoth: +1 to attack rolls when attacking female foes -- Lady Killer

What should I call this bonus?

EDIT: Done! Thank you everyone!

Yup would have to agree with @Awong124

Lady Killer is absolutely perfect for Eldoth. Sold!

Black Widow has some connotations which don't really fit Shar-Teel, though.

Tomboy? ("Anything you can do I can do better! I can do anything better than you!")

@Debaser & @Jalily - Both of those are excellent "strong female" indicators, but they lack the implication of evil, nasty murder.

    Man-Hater? (Hyphenated like her name?)

I'd say Man-Eater, but that's the wrong connotation.

@Debaser - "Man-Hater" is accurate, but it's a bit bland. Best suggestion so far.

You're right about "Man-Eater", same problem as "Black Widow". (Eldoth doesn't have this problem -- he's clearly comfortable with having a female lover, even if he ends up being mean to her.)

Have you tried a thesausus? I looked up "amazon", and got some interesting results. I don't think any of them were what you were looking for, but you may have better luck with a different site (or book, if you're old school), or with a different starting word.

@TJ_Hooker - good call! These seem promising:
    - Untamed Shrew
    - Termagant Thews
    - Vicious Virago

Haha, yeah, or "old biddy". Or my personal favourite, "battle-ax", which is apparently a synonym for amazon. But there are at least some that aren't so silly.

Hmm, the ones you listed kinda look like band names actually.

    untamed shrew works well imo

I dunno about the rest of you, but Amazonesses have always been pretty downright evil... At least, what I've read about them anyway.

Do love @bengoshi 's Iron Maiden though.

Frustrated, in more than one meaning.

I was about to say Iron Maiden, or Iron Lady or Maid of Steel or something. Lady Killer fits perfectly for Eldoth.

Iron Lady would imply that she was like Margaret Thatcher, which I think is insulting to Shar-Teel.

Sorry, Kid. You are clearly too highbrow for us.

    Amazon is perfect.

It's got some of the right connotations, but she's not a-mazos. I checked her paper doll very carefully to be sure.

Of course, we all know that a-mezos is ancient Greek for "lacking a breast", and might have been the origin of the word amazon. The legend was that the amazon warrior women would cut off one of their breasts to better fire a bow, which was a sign of their martial dedication.

    - - -

    So far I'm liking best:
    - Iron Maiden
    - Virago

I think you're taking the term too literally. Black widow doesn't necessarily have to mean spider! Or even a dark-skinned woman who's husband has died.

Artemis or Atalanta would have similar connotations to Amazon, but I think be less familiar.
Shield Maiden just doesn't have the right associations I guess :(

The connotation I'm talking about is "husband has died". A "black widow" is a woman who serially marries then murders men.

Shar-Teel is all about the murder, but marriage is outside of her idiom. ;-)

Eldoth's dialogue certainly shows that he's disrespectful of females in a tacky and sleazy way, but there's no implication of violence. The proposed mod is misconceived about Eldoth.

Shar-Teel is a different story. It's clear from her dialogue that she has contempt for males and that this might be expressed violently, so a bonus to her attacks against males isn't an unreasonable modding concept. (There again, there might be a case for saying the same about Viconia, although that's motivated by drow culture rather than personal issues.)
