Well, I don't know if this qualifies as art, but it is a fan creation.

I got this spider pattern from a book called Amigurumi Knits by Hansi Singh. When I saw it, I just knew I had to make it in Kitthix colors. I even altered it to have spots on the body instead of stripes.

And here he is, all scary-looking in my bathroom!

    Hey that's neat. As an ex-knitter I can see just how clever that is. Did you have a pattern, or did it all just come from your head?

    @jenzafar just don't hang him from a mobile above a babies bed ... methinks Kitthix would find that just a wee bit too humiliating.
    Are the legs knitted as one part with the body, or are the sewn on?

    Would probably scare the crap out of the kid, too! :D

    The legs are knitted separately, sewn into tubes, and then chenille stems ("pipe cleaners") are shoved in there so that they're bendable. Then the legs are knitted onto the body as the body is made. It's pretty fussy, and I think I never want to do it again!

    @Jenzafar I thought from the photo the legs were knitted it - it makes the figure look really great - but ye goddesses and little kittens that must have been very fiddly. You must have wished you had 8 arms like Kitthix!

    I am sure if I placed that on my bed I would awake and become most perturbed by it's presence...

    But at least you could stamp on it.

    Is it machine washable?

    EDIT: Forgot to add. Fab work!

    @anduin it probably is hand washable . . . but I wouldn't put it in the washing machine. I've broken my own heart a couple times that way with knits.

    @Jenzafar - If it was me doing the legs it wouldn't be knitting - it would be macrame!
