No no no! The Ettin MUST be a Bard! He can provide his own harmony!
Also, the mental image of an Ettin strumming a ginourmous lapharp while warbling in two offkey voices... obviously he gets the Jester song, but os totally unaware of the fact.
Also, give me various "fey" races (pixies, nymphs, etc.). Yuan-ti were a close second here. As a distant third, how about we learn more about the miserable little xvarts that are everywhere and follow up on that village?
The beholder Idea has been pitched a few times and I think it's completely doable, and awesome.
I'm actually really curious about how that would work from a gameplay perspective - would the gauth be classed as a Sorcerer?
@Shawne: I went that way with my NPC idea for the baby beholder. It would be a sorcerer kit that has more casts/day, but a more limited spell selection (mostly spells found in beholder-kin, and barely any utility spells).
The "Abberation" kit would mimic beholder abilities, and each eyestalk would have a spell matching the usual sorcerer/mage spell level, but the selection would be extremly limited. No utility spells like Knock or Identify, no AoE damage (or AoE other than mental effects like Spook), no protections, no summons, no self alterations (Strength, Haste and such), no sequencers.
Selection:
Level 1 Eyestalks: Blindness, Charm Person, Chromatic Orb, Color Spray, Spook Level 2 Eyestalks: Agannazar's Scorcher, Deafness, Horror, Power Word, Sleep, Ray of Enfeeblement Level 3 Eyestalks: Dispel Magic, Hold Person, Lightning Bolt, Minor Spell Deflection, Slow Level 4 Eyestalks: Confusion, Emotion: Hopelessness, Greater Malison, Polymorph Other, Wizard Eye Level 5 Eyestalks: Breach, Chaos, Cone of Cold, Domination, Feeblemind, Lower Resistance Level 6 Eyestalks: Disintegrate, Flesh to Stone, Pierce Magic, True Sight Level 7 Eyestalks: Finger of Death, Power Word, Stun, Prismatic Spray, Sphere of Chaos Level 8 Eyestalks: Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting, Maze, Power Word, Blind Level 9 Eyestalks: Energy Drain, Imprisonment, Power Word, Kill, Wish (as a total trap - note his wisdom, lol) Level 10 Eyestalks: (none of the regular spells seems right, so it's a special ability instead: "Beam Gambit" - fires all eyestalks at once, with a random spell from each level selected, targeting all hostile creatures in a cone, same as Color Spray; or same as a sequencer with the ability to select the spells)

@DreadKhan Hahahah! That sounds so super awesome. What is better than a Ettin Fighter? Definitely an Ettin Bard! One head could sing while the other beatboxes. Combine that with a hand drum and you got a force to be reckoned with. xD
@Mush_Mush The Monty Python bunny is a prime example why you shouldn't mess with us bunnies! We are melee power houses!
Minotaurs were one of the few monster PCs that actually worked well, even being large (3.5 making them take up 4 squares was a huge nerf for actual adventuring...), due to handy abilities like never being surprised. I liked trying to make them a fighter/rogue, or a ranger/rogue.
Spriggans were the more useable alternative though imho, being able to 'pass' as a gnome, but being able to enlarge to ogre level stature. Lots of great 'hulk' moments, good as a barbarian/rogue to stress their temper. @Anduin what do gnomes think about a Spriggan NPC?
@SharGuidesMyHand - exactly! Minotaurs would be nice. There are only a few games, where you can play as a minotaur. (Just Might and Magic VIII comes into mind)
Minotaur should not be hard to mod, if the existing animations are without weapons.
I'd much rather see one (or any of the poll choices, for that matter) modded into BG1, where they would likely be more powerful (as opposed to BG2, where they are something of a more routine enemy).

We can have dreams right?
We already have a soundset for such an NPC: http://soundboards.cubicleninja.com/

and somewhere down that page, I had a first draft of the kit:

Also, would love more werewolves rather than a shapeshifter druid, and a Gnoll and Ork would be cool.
Duergar Sorcerer would be my 2nd vote.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so:

how about a fairy
As long as the gnoll is the Flind variety, as it takes more than just one or two shots to kill a flind.
