    Best option for getting a thief is most likely dual classing when you reach 100% in lockpick and find trap. That is around level 6 or so, I think.

    A multiclass also works of course. Personally, I am going to try for the first time a kitted (swashbuckler maybe?) fighter/thief/wizard melee character which might end up being horribly outlevelled but tough luck. I hate thieves too.
