Death Ward Not Working

Just loaded up ToB to try an Avenger, and put a Death Ward on my Fire Elemental after summoning. However, Illesera still manages to use a Death Spell on it successfully. The spell description for Death Ward says it should protect against Death Spell.

It hadn't worn out, as the one I put on Charname before the Fire Elemental was still up.

Running vanilla BG2EE.

    It indeed can be the case. I've been experiencing the same with SCS installed.

    Can you attach a save, @alastair93 , so that @Gate70 or @Tresset could check it?

    I'm having the same problem fighting that random vampire encounter at the docks. She casts the death spell randomly and it's somehow getting through my wards.
