Giving up Bhaalspawn essence as a sorceror/shadow dancer

For classes with innate powers that come through being god-born, does giving up Charname's Bhaalspawn essence mean that Charname loses said powers?

A sorceror for example: lvl 30, atop the world. Gives up the divine spark, becomes a lvl 30 commoner...

Indeed, your question is based on a false assumption.

While the assumption can't be proven, it is not a totally unreasonable guess. We never hear of Charname's mother having a special heritage, so Bhaal is a much more likely source for any innate powers Charname possesses.

Losing those powers when giving up the essence is at least a possible scenario, though the fact that you can still get "adventuring with your loved one"-epilogue seems to indicate otherwise. OTH even a level 30 commoners is still a force to be reckoned with ;)

Well, you still have your sorcerer/shadowdancer abilities when your divine essence is stolen by Irenicus. It appears that only the spell-like abilities your character receives are from your divine heritage.

And you also turn into the slayer at that point...
