Quick Specialist Mage Question

Finally grabbed IWDEE :)

Other than being forced to memorized a spell from your school (as it should be) at character creation, there's nothing preventing you from memorizing whatever you want during the game (other than roleplaying)?

Also, IIRC, I can use an editor to give a multi-class character any specialist mage kit. Will that still work if I want something other than a gnome illusionist/x ?

TIA

Yes and yes. The character creation only requires you to know at least one spell of your school; you can proceed to play the game without ever using that school, and there are no penalties for doing so.

EEKeeper can grant any character any kit. Sometimes the update doesn't apply quite correctly, but in the case of mage kits, there should be no problem switching from one to the other.

Also, you have to remember that you can't memorize spells from the opposite school. Take a note that in IWDEE, if compared to BGEE, there're differencies.

    Conjurer: Opposed School: Invocation.
    Diviner: Opposed School: Conjuration/Summoning.
    Enchanter: Opposed School: Invocation/Evocation.
    Illusionist: Opposed School: Necromancy, Abjuration.
    Invoker: Opposed School: Divination, Conjuration/Summoning.
    Necromancer: Opposed School: Illusion, Enchantment/Charm.
    Transmuter: Opposed School: Abjuration, Necromancy.
