Crashing when loading with Alternate Renderer off, extremely slow when on, have bug report

GOG Release for Baldur's Gate II EE, no mods
https://dropbox.com/s/gfaeqkrw60dd1ow/dump.2.3.67.3.0002.dmp?dl=0

Hey guys, I bought BG2EE off of GOG and have not been able to get it playable. When I have Alternate Renderer off, the menu runs smoothly, but will crash as soon as the game loads. With it on, the game loads, but it very laggy and stuttery.
I have tried:
-Reinstalling BG2EE
-Reinstall video drivers
-Double checked OpenAL was installed and reinstalled it
-Restarted my computer
-Rename the Document's folder

Currently, I am getting an error report that should be attached. I would be extremely grateful if anyone could tell me what I can do to get the game running. Thanks!

Please could you attach a directx diagnostic report

Windows/R -> type DXDIAG and click OK -> Wait for it to run -> Save all information
Then drop the file into the leave a comment box here

    Thanks

There might be a newer driver or two for your graphics card. It may be the case that the more recent entries are not suitable/updated for your card.

Perhaps try the first, and if no joy, the second. I've included the third for reference.

Ok, so the 8.591 driver is installed (Others didn't work) and now I can load into the game, it runs at full speed and I can interact with the character movement icons and menus, but everything in the main window is black, similar to this thread. Alternate rendering is unchanged and still very stuttery.

From Optons -> Graphics what information is shown, particularly around version of OpenGL. If it is showing less than 2.0, close the game and try editing the baldur.lua file in your documents -> game folder to add opengl version as per that thread.

Your dxdiag file shows a 32 bit version of directx so I looked for 32 bit drivers. If your operating system is 64 bit I'll have pointed you to the wrong drivers. Check the version at checking.

Does autodetect at AMD produce a/different result for you. I should probably have suggested that first.
Directx already shows as 9.0c, you could try re-installing that in case something had been changed on your system e.g. by another software install.

Are there any settings within the driver (probably accessible by right-clicking the desktop or graphics icon if there is one by the clock) that can be toggled on/off to see if that makes a difference.

It's 32 bit. The laptop is pretty old, but that seems like that should be good for compatibility.
OpenGL is 2.1.8494, tried the 'version', '1', but didn't work.

I get the feeling this game won't be running on this laptop. Is there an older release on GOG that might work or would that be too buggy?

    Thanks for all your help!

GOG has version 2.x of the game. Purchasers on Steam can revert to version 1.3 via use of a beta version, but not an option for GOG. Version 2.x had a large number of fixes but version 1.3 was playable to completion.

GOG has a gift code for Baldur's Gate II Classic Edition, i.e. the original version of the game.
