How can I charm Tazok?

Good day :)
Tell me, how can I charm Tazok? a decrease in saving throws and a strong charm for him do not work, a cloak too. I try this on BGEE

please help me :)

    In Bandit's camp, after the script began the conversation between Tazok and my NPC on any of the options (the peaceful end of the dialogue or the duel with Tazok), I can not enchant him. He always throws a saving throw. How did you do that? I really want to see his hidden dialogue.

    There's always a 5% chance of working, actually.

    Rolling 1 is always a failure, no matter how low your save is.

    I must have gotten lucky. I charmed Tazok once and did it on my first try. I thought it was easy.

    Is this really true? I was under the impression there's no "critical fail" on saving throws as there is on ie attack rolls.

    That's right - there is no critical fail on saving throws. However, you can boost your chances a bit more than suggested above:
    - the specialist penalty if charm is cast by an enchanter is -2
    - the penalty for greater malison is -4 (i.e. 20% rather than 10%)
    - you could also use doom for a further -2
    - if you have a 7th level priest or 9th level mage you could use domination instead of dire charm for -2

    I agree it is a bit odd that BG was implemented with a critical miss on attacks, but not a critical fail on saving throws. A similar oddity is that there is no critical fail for stealing from shops, but there is a critical fail on pickpocketing.

    you are correct, on the shop one, im pretty sure i saw somewhere that there is always a 1% chance to fail at stealing from a shop, and i've even seen it with my own eyes in SoA, but not ToB oddly enough

    I'm pretty sure that's not the case, although I agree the suggestion of a critical fail has been widely spread on the internet. I think if you've seen a failure it's because the chance of success wasn't 100% in the first place (it can require well over 200% skill to get a 100% chance of success against some merchants).

    Definitely no critical fail on stealing from shopkeepers, at least in BG2. I've done the "steal > sell > steal > sell" cycle on fences dozens of times without saving or reloading at any point. If there was even a 1% failure rate, the chances of me getting through 100 steal > sell cycles without issue should only be around 1/3rd. If you get your pickpocket score high enough, you're definitely guaranteed to succeed against any merchant in the game, (it's just that "high enough" usually means over 200, even higher for a really tough merchant like Bernard).

    I've never seen a critical fail on pickpocketing, either, though it's much more possible that that exists and I've just not noticed it, because I'm never pickpocketing 100 times in a row like I am stealing from shops.
