I was recently playing the tunnels under Candlekeep in Vanilla (via Tutu) BG. In the area where the two basilisks are hiding, I had Imoen spy the location out. Then I had my wizard cast fireball into the cavern and the monsters reacted. I don't have SCS installed or any other mod except Unfinished Business, so I guess I am not seeing enemies simply stand around and die. Should I be?
But just to take devil's advocacy here, even if they do, take it from the sniper's point of view. If the enemy is attacking from cover, it may take several rounds to identify where the attack is coming from. Ok, maybe this is a tiny stretch, but..... ???
In the end, I agree that, if you set it up such that an enemy simply doesn't react to your attack in some way, that is cheese. But are we sure that is the way it works?
'I am saying that based on your own reasoning, 'Reloading' would be considered cheese. And by your own admission, you think it is. I don't. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it was always INTENDED to be a legitimate tactic. In short, your logic needs another once over.
...
I think it is PERFECTLY legitimate
The core of the problem is that you guys dont want to consider your favorite tactics as cheese. Try to think more generally. This thread already has examples with cloudkill usage and you're exactly the same, and can actually read your own responses, just replace "cloudkill" with "realoading", lol.

Yes. There are times when an enemy will react but many others where the enemy will not. Cloudkill gets no reaction from enemies more often than not. Fireball tends to provoke a reaction much more often, but there are still many opponents who will stand there and die from fireballs and the like if you don't cross into their sight rather than charge where the fireball came from or run away from it.
So if you wanted to test, cloudkill is your better way to go because nearly all enemies simply stand there and die if they haven't seen you. This isn't just limited to them not seeing you though. Even Sarevok will simply stand there and eat it if you fire the cloudkill wand from within his line of sight and then go invisible with him in the cloud, for example.
@Roller12 You are not the ultimate judge on what is and what isn't cheese. If you notice we all say that what we say is our opinion, if not directly then at least implied. Please refrain from telling us that our opinions doesn't matter and yours is the only one that counts. Everything discussed in this thread is subjective. One could say "as long as you don't tamper with the game by fx using shadowkeeper, then it isn't cheese" That would be a liberal way of viewing cheese.
Some will say that rolling stats over and over and over is cheese but not all. ( I for one feel a bit cheesy about it but I don't judge others)
Some will say that using save/reload even once is cheesy. Personally I say use it as much as you want. Consider stopping if you start to feel cheesy about it (using it to cast a spell with low probability over and over again is cheesy to me)
Some (like you) will say that using pretty much anything than straight up melee without powerful items is cheesy. I'd say you are in the strong minority here. To me saying "you all know I'm right" when there are so many that disagree with you sounds a bit arrogant. Ever consider that you might be in the wrong?

No. The core of the problem is You don't want to even consider any other opinion than your own. And when the flaw in your logic is pointed out, you attempt to obfuscate and befuddle.
But as has been said, this is an opinion thread. And we are sharing our opinion, so you are perfectly justified in sharing your opinion.

@AHF I concur with your assesment here aswell.
