Which fighting style do you think is the most useful for melee warrior?

i simply use whirwind on pretty much every tough opponent ,so belm only helps me clear thrash

flail of the ages+greater whirwind+22 str+ grandmastery+gloves of extraordinary specialisation,i don't need any more damage(if i can get more damage that is) so i'd rather use shield of the order off-hand, and since the choice for my rest proficiencies is weapons i don't use or missile defense,i get missile defense.

Well to be honest, SWS is arguably on par with sword and shield when it comes to defense for much of BG1. +2 AC is as good as you'll get from a shield until you get the large shield +2, which I think you only find at the bottom of Durlag's Tower. The only thing you miss out on is the bonus missile AC, but in exchange your chance to critical hit is doubled.

While S&SS stinks shields are actually amazing in bg 2, especially the shield of harmony. It's a shame they can't revise the style a bit
