Correction: "Actually, the best/game-breaking loot in the whole game USED TO COME from Firewin'es ruins."
Unless I missed something, and that's possible, this is no longer true. The only thing they have worth mentioning is the Dead Shot and Helmets of Charm Protection.
i might remember this wrong, since I didn't go there in my EE playthrough, but isn't firewine one of the very few places you could get your hands on the fireball scroll before entering BG?
Yes, but you can find one in the Bandit's Camp, too.
(Not that anyone asked, but this is true in Vanilla, too.)

Unless they changed what drops when you kill them (which I didn't check) all 6 Ghost Knight files still have all those items according to NI.
As an adventurer, I heard that with a pair of stout legs I could reach a ruin called Firewine that was heaving with treasure.
...
What are your thoughts? Should it be enhanced? Or simply avoided?
Experience. There's no such thing as enough. 35 exp (x) 100 kobolds or so is worth something, especially if you give your warrior a Large Shield + 1 (which are so common in EE that you're damn-near tripping over them; Large Shields get a bonus vs. Missile in addition to the 2 AC bonus from using the Large Shield +1), the Boots of Avoidance (+5 vs. Missile), and the Claw of Kazgaroth (cursed; +4 vs. Missile). They won't be able to hit you.
That said, since they not only completely fail to spawn in the Firewine Ruins these days (correct me if I'm wrong; I spent a week in game time in the ruins, themselves), but any that do exist will actually disappear completely if they're in your party's line of sight while you're exiting the dungeon (perhaps that's a bug, but it actually happened to me), there's not much of an experience bonus due to killing kobolds.
That said, I wouldn't be opposed to sticking a new magic item in there; maybe a Ring of Protection +2 or something? (I don't particularly care either way, so if you don't like the idea, that's cool, too.)

Their drop never changed and it's still the best one
It would still be nice to have some good loot for people who don't play assassins or blackguards, even if it's just another charisma tome or something of limited use.
Does anyone else think that it would be pretty cool if there was a quest added to let you purify the Vampire's Revenge into a +2 sword with 1 HP drain (as in, healing you rather than your foe)? Would only be very slightly better than Varscona (only the tiny heal would set it above), and a fitting reward for players willing to get the weapon in the first place.

Combine the upgraded sword with Varscona, and I'd shout "FROSTMOURNE HUNGERS!" every time I crit.
I think it was a pretty good troll on the part of the developers, though.

I had long forgotten. Neat.
