*throws @deltago brand glue at @Kaigen to prevent escape*
  • *Luckily, the glue is packaged in sturdy plastic bottles, so throwing one doesn't accomplish much*

Actually my branded glue comes in heavy, cumbersome bottles. If one was to get hit in the head with a bottle, it would atleast stun someone for 1d4 rounds if not knock them out cold.

Can't bronies keep their stuff to themselves, seriously? Someday I'll be afraid to open my own goddamn fridge over the fear of seeing MLP stuff there.

Yeah, I don't care what people like; if watching cartoons for little girls is fun to some guys, so be it, but does it have to be a religion? I watch shitty cartoons sometimes myself, that's certainly not the issue. Most people probably have some guilty pleasure of that kind. It's nothing special. The attitude that watching MLP it is oh so edgy and unique is annoying.

I enjoy MLP the same way I enjoy other quality cartoons. Because of good art, voice-acting and storytelling. I don't consider myself a brony.

Edgy and unique like preferring older games to those newfangled popular games with their fancy cool graphics?

Exactly. It's such a rare thing that people like old games, it's a good analogy. ;)

Sure but I don't need a documentary to tell me that is ok to like older games. It kinda reminds me more of this:

Sure, but people don't call you a pedophile for liking older games. People also don't shout at you for cramming your interests down their throat when you post in a single thread in an off topic section of the forum.

Edit: I think you misread the purpose of the documentary, as well. It's more about explaining the fandom to outsiders who are curious about it. Bronies funded the kickstarter because they wanted something they could show people to explain it after someone comes at them with a bunch of questions sparked by a Fox News "expose."

As someone who is also somewhat annoyed by bronies: Zelgadis do you ever say anything in this forum that isn't inflammatory? Please learn some better diction or something so you can present your opinions in a more open-minded, kind way. It goes a long way, I've learned.
  • At any rate, I'm curious now: @Bhaaldog, have you seen any of the show, or did you just hear about it through De Lancie and was curious if anyone from the fandom was floating about these forums?

@zanian How much of the show have you seen? Do you have an episode you particularly liked?

@Kaigen I think I have seen most of the first season. That's it.
"Sonic Rainboom" was one of my favorites I think. Rainbow Dash was the epitome of a badass in that one.

I happenened to do so, multiple of times. In this particular case, there is no way that I'm going to talk politely about group of people that never really did anything to earn my respect at all (just the contrary). Sorry, but respect is earned, not given. Furthermore, being polite has only meaning when you really mean it - otherwise, it is nothing more than lie people are using to shield themselves for eventual consequences.

And besides, being open/closed minded has nothing to do with what I have said. It is about respect/lack of it.
  • @Zanian Yeah, Rainbow Dash is a fun character. She has a really interesting arc that develops through "May the Best Pet Win!", "Read it and Weep", and "Wonderbolts Academy."

@Bhaaldog I'm always pleasantly surprised when I run across De Lancie in a TV show. He's kept busy over the years.

Haaaaah, it never changes, does it? I'm so tired of people judging My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic as a show for retarded closeted nerds before even having seen at least two episodes of the series. In most cases, these narrow-minded folks even enjoyed watching the Powerpuff Girls, a show from the same creator who worked on My Little Pony as well. How ironic. It gets really tiring to keep on explaining the same things to these judgemental folks over and over again, so I kind of have given up on it. Let people think what they want. I enjoy the show and have watched all three seasons thus far. I don't consider myself a brony, or rather, a pegasister either. I just like the show for its high quality art (it's better executed than most other modern cartoons shown on Cartoon Network nowadays) and the realistic and funny characters. I even drew some ponies myself a while ago and had fun doing so. Cry all you want, it won't diminish my fun, nor will it change my mind. I'd rather let my future kids watch the current My Little Pony series than any of the sometimes even vulgar cartoons airing on Cartoon Network nowadays (Cow and Chicken, anyone?). At least that will teach my kids some morals instead of them having to stare at a huge red devil's ass all the time. I DO admit that Season 3 of My Little Pony has been really disappointing for me thus far, mostly because Hasbro is taking over the show with its f***ing merchandise (Alicorn Twilight just was a BAD move, sorry), showing it down everyone's throat. But to be fair, not all of the bronies are just as reasonable either and thus I tend to mainly stay away from the more...passionate...sites and forums and mainly remain neutral about the matter.

@ZelgadisGW: You're talking about respect as if you're the only one who deserves to get it. Lay down the attitude and maybe you'll earn some respect yourself. Let's all behave like adults, shall we? Thanks.

When did I have mentioned anything about only me deserving respect? Besides, if that critique wasn't coming from you, I might have considered your words. You have proven me few times already that you yourself are not exactly a mature person. So, if we are going to behave like adults, then better start to live up to your own words.

I thought the pilot was really good, but the next several episodes didn't do much for me. I may go back to watch more someday.

Anyone who says "respect is earned" is a troll.

You respect everyone's opinions/beliefs/likes regardless if you have the same beliefs/opinions/likes or not.

I guess I can understand the Edit. To be honest, I liked it. The humour and the animation was great. I am still enjoying the last line "Any Pony-else that I missed," not to mention the look on the brown ponies face when he gets teleported into the classroom (@2:51). It was cute, but isn't something that I would invest my time in watching.

The first part I am split two ways. First way, anyone who calls you a pedophile is a troll and should just be ignored promptly. They are looking for attention and know where to get it. Secondly, depending on the forum you post it on, you are going to get backlash. Most of the off-topic posts here are related to either other video games, D&D, or medieval setting forms of entertainment. The reason being, you are going to find more people that share that type of interest here than say a cartoon that is marketed to preteen girls. As long as you can put up with some good-humored backlash (but nothing excessive) than post away.

So, I guess you are feeling respect for Adolf Hitler and Mother Teresa equally. No matter if you agree with their beliefs or not, no matter if you share them or not. Maybe this example is a bit drastic, but is still functional - it show how invalid your way of thinking is.

That being said (and back to the topic), I have nothing against the show or the fact that people can like ot. What I will never going to cope with is how majority of the "fans" are acting. Constantly showing their fandom to where it does not belong, having neither limits, restrictions nor good taste. In short, I have never been blessed with possibility to see a better side of MLP fandom.

And I don't think that I even have to mention cloppers.

Here is the difference of Hitler and Mother Teresa. Hitlers beliefs effected others in a negative way. His belief was to kill others for having a different belief than he did. My point remains, everyone needs to treat others equally to garner respect. Respect is never earned, it is only lost.

Kaigen is right however. He is allowed to discuss the show where ever he feels like discussing it as long as it is in the proper channels. The Off-topic forum is the proper channel here so he can discuss away. A "majority" of the fans haven't posted here, in fact, quite the opposite. Fans of the show who don't consider themselves Bronies have posted here claiming to like the show but do not like how other fans are acting elsewhere. You should not stereotype everyone who watches the show as people who have neither limits, restrictions nor good taste.
  • @Kitteh_On_A_Cloud I enjoyed the third season, but you do have to set aside the things that are obvious marketing ploys. Granted, this is coming from someone who enjoyed Beast Wars despite the fact that certain plot elements (*cough*transmetals*cough*) were only there to sell more toys (or to kill off characters whose toys weren't selling).
