I recently recruited Eldoth and Skie. What do people generally think about Skie, particularly her sound set? Personally, I was hoping for some more variety...
I often have Eldoth in my parties; he's versatile and his voiceset is great. Skie... It took a while to warm up to the voice, but it's not annoying me as much as I thought it would long-term. It can be annoying in areas where you need her to scout ahead and disarm traps, and you click on her a lot, but there are very few NPCs that would not be annoying in that situation. I like that she is meant to be an annoying brat and not just sounds like one. (Hi, Neera!)
@Milesbeyond Because they have more traps per day then even a T/M or F/T multiclass with their 7 extra HLA over a single or dual, can ever have.
And yes, 1 well placed maze trap can be just as brutal as any of the epic traps, even if you don't add any other traps at all. The enemies come back in order of intelligence, with a slight variance of due to random rolls, allowing you to now gank at your leisure what was supposed to be an ambush meant for you.
While not really necessary, due to the fact you can rest any time you damn well please, almost, if you want to make the game more interesting and go with rest restrictions, those extra traps and strategic use of your other traps matter A LOT. And since the BH gets more trap usages at the end of the day, they're better then anyone else at it.
No offense, but do people actually read previous posts before saying something. No big deal, but some of these longer threads have quite a bit of unavoidable repeat viewpoints...there is a like button for that.
Yoshimo is constantly underrated for the mere fact that I don't think people realize he is one the few three dimensional characters.
I never played with him in my party until this time around and I have to agree. He is far from one dimensional. He is also a heck of a support character.
What I am finding though is that Jan is all around a better thief when it comes to it. Admittedly he has to use all of his original equipment to stay that way and that pretty much tanks his ability to have a decent AC, but he is still a lot better at picking locks and finding/removing traps. You also have to give him a belt to bolster his strength if you want him to do any damage, but there are enough of them to go around. And the level differential due to dual class doesn't impact until the point when Yoshi is sadly no longer available.
The way I handle this is that I have Yoshimo use all of the sneak type items and he scouts and backstabs a lot. Jan handles any locks or traps and is my back-up caster and defense remover.
I don't think the mod survived when G3 went dark a couple months back, but there was a nifty mini-mod called Keeping Yoshimo that allowed players to keep Yoshimo all the way to the end of ToB. It was a blast to have Yoshi in the party for the whole game. He was a backstabbing dynamo by game's end.
Anyway, Yoshimo is a great character, possibly my favorite from BG2.
