When will we see new Patch for Ipad?

Question for the Dev's,

Now the patch has been released for PC, how long before we get the patch for Ipad?

Obviously there are issues for the Ipad version that were not in the PC version (Spell AoE slow-down for example) so, are we going to have our own 'The Road to v1.2' for a month before its released, or has it been dealt with for Ipad already and going to Apple for testing?

Assuming they submitted it to the app store on the day the patch was released, i'd say a few more days. Average wait time is around 6 days ( http://reviewtimes.shinydevelopment.com ).

I would be amazed to see a good patch before christmas... All I want is moddable bgee for my ipad 'cos I'm gonna fly to Thailand after a few months and the flight is gonna take about 10h. =) Until the developer is able to keep it's promises, I won't buy anything else they are trying to sell. 50% discount on ipad's bg2ee would make me happy tho...

@Travelleri: LOL. I am truely at a loss for words. It's amazing how "not good enough" things are for some people. 700 bugs fixed, a complete renderer rewrite and "untill the developer is able to keep it's promises"...

    Whatever.

    50% discount ... LOL. It's $20 dude, get a job.

@ The rest: According to other posts in this forum the patch was submitted according to Trent's blog. The Spell AOE slowdown was NOT an iPad issue, it was an "every game" issue (windows, mac, iPad). That's the whole reason for the renderer rewrite you all should have read a whole lot about. It affected the iPad more than the other systems because there's only one hardware spec for the iPad and many people playing on gaming systems that could support the Diablo's and the Skyrim's of the world never saw a single issue with game slowdowns. Hardware Matters! :)

The 1.2 version of the game should be on it's way to iPads in short order.

Thank you for your wisdom Illydth... I do appericate the work they have done but for now, I still haven't seen the product they promised to deliver over a year ago and that's a fact... It's not about me not having the money to buy the game. I work as a sales and marketing specialist in a finnish technology company and we might have a different view on how to keep our clients informed. I'm not the most active member of this forum, I only visit the Ipad thread a few times a month to see if there is something to be excited about, but well... It seems that the devs are more excited about the pc version and the upcoming bg2ee. Peace!

PS. Not sure about the fixes for bgee but hundreds of lines of fixity magic has been there for bg1 for years... I doubt they had to track every possible bug by themselves.

@Travelleri: Of the original 400 or so they listed, no, probably not. Many of those were community fixes that probably came in with some of the implementations of pieces of Tutu and other larger community mods.

The 700 I mention, I BELIEVE, were counted from the point of the last patch to this one...that's ALL reported, debugged and re-written code since the 2014 build we got earlier this year sometime. The community and the devs have been busy...especially when you take out the...what? 2 - 3 months they were on forced "hands off" due to the legal issues?

I guess I'm curious as to what part of the product you don't think has been delivered. As you mention that you're from a Finnish Tech Company, I suspect you're talking about translations? If that's the case I'll actually throw you an apology for the attitude above.

The game translation issues are no secret and I make no excuses for them. You international players have been waiting for a HELL of a long time to get a game translated into your language and I feel for you guys. There are probably a number of ways they could have made this better, but for whatever reason have not.

I wouldn't say they're more EXCITED about the PC version, I'd say they're more worried about the PC version (and to a lesser extent the MAC version). They certainly have more PC Players than iPad Players so that makes some sense as well.

If you are one of the many who've been waiting for a year or so for a port to your language, you really do have my apologies for the attitude I threw at you in my previous post.

Holy sh1t, please don't translate my childhood masterpiece into finnish!!! It was enought for me to read the finnish subtitles when watching Lord of the rings, it's awkward! Some things are good as they were planned to be, just like all the chinese kung fu movies should be in chinese, not english.

What I mean by the product not being delivered as promised, is about not being able to mod it, even tho it seems for me to be a relatively simple thing. I just believe they had no real experience on how to port a game for ipad, yet they made huge promises on how fast everything was gonna be ready... That was months BEFORE they released the game for the first time.

The other thing is the cloud saving service... I was thinking about buying the game for the pc, but not before I can play it on my Ipad 3 and pc on sync... Still waiting... Cloud syncing/saving is not magic, even I can sell, design and personalize those for our clients... U only need one server to start the service... Gosh, even dropbox would do the job... Well, not sure if they have released some newer info about the topics but those were promises from about a year ago. Well, luckily I have other things to do than wait for a mirracle, but I would welcome the game as it was promised. I love the serie and was pumped when I first heard the news about bgee. Still hopeful... Cooooooo!!!

On Trent's twitter: iPad #BGEE 1.2 patch is back in development. We found some bugs we need to fix so the build is not in approvals.

Finally got my hopes up high enough with the new patch, only to be shot down again. How many more weeks or months will it take this time, geez...

Well there goes my hope of having it on the ipad before Thanksgiving... :(
  • SindyanSindyan Member Posts: 146
Actually I think that was an old tweet. Philip says it has been approved
  • nsrnsr Member Posts: 174
I'm quite confused by the contradicting tweets, so i'm just going to keep both pages open and see who posts a correction first
  • DarkShrikeDarkShrike Member Posts: 17
Well I will just sit here and think happy thoughts. That will make it magically appear on my iPad, correct?
Having it in time for the weekend would be gravy :)

<~~~~been refreshing his update every 30 minutes for the last three hours for App Store
I have been hoping since May for that patch!

Well unfortunately according to Trent Oster's latest tweet the iPad version hasn't been submitted yet. Oh well. 6 more days.

6 days seems doubtful... 2 weeks at the least. The lack of communication is back again too. Not a single beamdog dude is posting on the forum about this latest hold up.

That's what the weirdest thing is. I suppose it must be something have to do with the touch controls. If only we could have beta tested that as well...

Who knows, maybe we'll get all those tasty suggestions in the sticky thread dealing with everything touch-interface related...

OS X and iOS are quite different, nothing weird about that.

From Philip said today it hasn't been denied or approved. The avg wait time for apps has been 7 days now. I think tonight or tomorrow
  • EketEket Member Posts: 69
I believe they are working around the clock, anyone that cares for what they do, will not just clock out. Thank you Illydith for taking the time to post here, but I think a beamdog employee needs to come down here, explain what's what, and make sense out of these conflicting reports.
  • SindyanSindyan Member Posts: 146
    I agree.

As of this time no update still. This is longer than the normal wait time. I have a feeling there was some bugs they will have too fix.

Not to be a sourpuss, but man. I gave up checking in to see what's going on almost a year ago. I see it's the same issue, poor communication. They really need to step that up a notch, considering they're trying to sell us a new product with BG2. Customer confidence is a big deal.

On the plus side, at least I'll have plenty of time to play a stable(r) BG1 while I wait to see where the ball lands with the sequel.

I have the patch on pc version and it is sooo glorious that I can't bring myself to play old Ipad version. So sad. :-(
  • SindyanSindyan Member Posts: 146
Based off the update not becoming out and with no updates from @dee , twitter feeds not saying anything I believe the patch was turned down due to a bug likey due to the touch interface.
With the upcoming release of bgee 2 this Friday I believe all resources have been focused on this.
I am just a fan but this is my belief
  • nsrnsr Member Posts: 174
    Well there are 2 possibilities:
    1) Ipad build has not yet been submitted to Apple. There's a bug to be fixed, maybe the reason it got rejected from the last submission
    2) Ipad build is at Apple undergoing review.

I'm hoping for possibility (2) because that lets the dev team work on their BG2EE delivery.
  • solidus0079solidus0079 Member Posts: 60
I'll quit harping on this but well, they need to be saying stuff. There's no way I'll be buying BG2 until BG1 works fine on the platform I prefer (iPad). Which is sad, since I'm the best demographic for this - I'd be an instant $10-20 (or whatever) and a 5-star app store review. I love the game already, would love to play it again, have some disposable income, and own the tablet. Certainly I'm not alone here. Right now I'm assuming it won't even be worth a look until a year after release. That's not how to be successful on the app store. Launch day relevance is critical.

I do hope as time goes on and somebody "in the know" moves on to something new (and hopefully better), that we'll get an honest and frank disclosure of all this. The priorities seem totally out of whack, it's illogical. If your entire car product lineup is undergoing recalls and getting bad press, that's not the time to launch something new. Earn trust back, then wow us.
