(6941) Casting Luck (SPWI209.spl) should not remove the target's weapon proficiencies

I just found a major bug with luck spell.
When Neera casts a luck spell on a character (including herself), the receiving character permanently loses all its Weapon Proficiencies. Leveling up does not bring them back either.
I haven't tried it with other spell casting characters, since currently only she knows the spell. I tried to cast it when she was at level 3 and again when she was at level 4. The result was the same both times.

Casting Luck (SPWI209.spl) should not remove the target's weapon proficiencies
1. Start a new game with the Daria pregen character
2. C: CreateItem("scrl93")
3. Open the Inventory (I) and drag the scroll into the first quick item slot
4. Return to Gameplay (G)
5. Select the scroll and cast it on Daria
6. Open the Record (R)
7. In the statistics pane, scroll down to the Weapon Proficiencies section
8. Notice that Daria has no weapon proficiencies
Daria should have her normal starting weapon proficiencies.Internal Tracking Number: 6941 (Fix Attached)

Do you have any mods installed?
I am attaching the save file. Have Neera cast Luck and see the results. Imoen has already lost her weapon proficiencies, because I cast it on her earlier in the game.
I also noticed that once you cast it you get this message in the dialog box:
Neera: Spellcaster level decreased by 1.
@Dee: Just tried this (casting Luck spell) in my post-1.2 game and I can confirm - Luck's target loses all weapon proficiencies. Tried this twice with different characters to be sure, was able to reproduce both times. And it's not specific to Neera, I used Xan to cast the spell.

- After putting the edited .SPL in override folder, casting Luck in game didn't affect character's proficiencies.
- Removing the edited file from override folder (reverting to the default), tried casting Luck again to be sure -> weapon proficiencies are lost.
I think we've found the culprit.
Not so lucky.
Will the fix just prevent Luck from creating the problem or will it solve the problem?
I would like to know how (even with the cluaconsole or eekeeper) to restore the proficiencies.
Just load up your saved game, select the affected character (slider on the left), switch to the proficiencies tab, and use the "+" buttons to add missing points. Note that there are two columns for "1st class" and "2nd class" - you must add to the correct one, otherwise the points won't show up in game. Usually the 2nd class column is the right one, but not always.
could reproduce that one too (v2014 save-->1.2) ; my guy passed from DH 9/13 to 16/20, and no more proficiencies too.. cool. *)
i noticed that was already bugged somewhat in v2014 btw.. the spell info mentions well everything should receive a 5% bonus ('that includes saving throws, to hit chances, thieving skills, and so on') concretely, that was mainly adding a -1 AC bonus and saving throws (and thieving skills).. but nothing on 'hit chances' (i was hoping a -1 too^)... but now, that's the bingo, as we could say here then ; full proficiencIES erased so (and no more -1 AC bonus too, btw), lol..talking about luck.. /
oki.. good to know, thx OP! i will try to remember that one..not to cast it in the middle of a fight..pity, i liked enough those scrolls though..could be used for temporary little extras boosts too.. ok, not so much now.. *\
that is fixing the proficiency erasing, OK;
..BUT... that is not fixing the rest :
- you win no more your luck boost on AC (no more -1) (like it was working ok before )
- you always don't win a 'hit bonus' chance (no +1 always)
.... btw, not sure if the original chance spell was not affecting the damages (not in v2014 too), but will it not be logical too you could win a +1 on damages too from it? (obviously, not here too, there).
the rest seems to work ok ; -1 on saves ok, and +5 on thieving skills ok ; ouf ))
Btw, the thieving skill bonus is now applied perfectly apparently; i had noticed too that in v2014, the most important one for me when i wanted to use it (open lock)..had not its+5 (others were ok)..now, that one is fixed and has its+5 too, good)
Well... yes, plz, now fix all that on the next patch (the whole spell^).
TIA*)
I don't remember Luck ever affecting AC. Haven't played EE before 1.2 patch, but in original BG2 engine at least it never had the effect on AC you describe (and I don't think it should - Armor Class is not an 'action'). In fact, from looking at original BG2 version of Luck in DLTCEP, it never even gave you proper bonuses to thieving skills - something which EE has fixed.
As for tohit bonus and damage bonus - those are applied with special 'Luck: Non-Cumulative (133)' effect which the spell subjects its target to. I don't think these bonuses are reflected in the stats on the character record and inventory screen, but they are there for the spell duration.
Effect description from the BG2 IESDP:
#133 (0x085) Spell Effect: Luck Non-Cumulative [133]
Parameter #1: Statistic Modifier (= +1 for the Luck spell)
Parameter #2: Irrelevant
Description:
Applies the modifier value specified by the 'Statistic Modifier' field in the style specified by the 'Type' field to the targetted creatures luck. Luck affects the minimum damage caused by a weapon (up to the normal maximum damage of the weapon) and the attack roll modifier (up to a maximum of 20, excluding natural attack roll modifiers, e.g. high STR, invisibility etc) by 'Statistic Modifier' amount. 'Statistic Modifier' also affects the damge rolls of opponents (in feature blocks, not extension headers). The effect sets STATE_LUCK.
i can assure you, in v2014, Luck was affecting AC (i always have the v2014 installed in its own folder and had tested it in both versions just writting quickly that, just to be sure and compare again!).
ps:very nice hit/dam hidden bonuses too then!..maybe a thing to add in the inventory/char.screen too next time then (&would be perfect too!)?
(edit)....and the AC bonus was maybe a bug left in v1024 too then..funny, as i was using Luck, no more for the hit/dam bonuses hoped initially (as i did not see them)..but mainly for the -1 Saving Throws..and that -1 AC..and yes, in a way, more logical that way, as that was never really explicitly described in the spell info text /AC.. ok, good to know..seems better that way now.. will use it again mainly for the saves+hit+dam (and eventually the +5 to open lock/stealing that could be also handy sometimes)..as intended initially so..
I did a new quick test with my (v2014-->1.2) bard blade, using its Offensive Spin (handy to be sure/max dam) : the +hit/dam are well hidden in the char/inventory screen..but there is indeed a change in the main window stats fight screen !
ex / bow+fire arrow + OS on Neera (nb; Hard diff, +50% dam on team too (normal diff=>14DAM ok)!..^) ;
OS+no luck : 8+5 HIT / 21 DAM
OS+luck : 17+6 HIT / 21 DAM
(similar results on Imoen ; 10+2 HIT / 21 DAM __ 14+3 HIT / 21 DAM )
... the hidden +1 /hit seems well applied.. and , well, the +1 DAM, if applied, seems indeed, _only on the minimums_ then? (not maxs indeed..so OS don't seem to have a benefice from it then..- auto maxs^)! -?!
(not sure how to measure the +1 /dam on minimums only(?) though, now^ ).
And the quick fix in the override folder is well working /proficiencies..
K.. )
and yes, to have the +hit/(min only so?)DAM bonus visible directly on the would be perfect too)
(as an inside note, i don't see the +2 hit bonus from the Offensive Spins on the main window +stats btw (normal?), compared to a non OS regular attack role (the constant maxed out damage apparears immediately though)..but i well see the OS +2 hit/dam in the char.screen/inventory - OS +2/hit well applied too in the attack so? -?! ex; on Imoen, without OS; 12+2 HIT / 10 DAM __ with OS; 10+2 HIT / 21 DAM ).
I've been playing BG:EE for 20+ hours already and suddenly found that Minsc lost all stars in all his weapon proficiencies. I can't determine exact moment this happened, and I don't have any save prior this momen!
Is there any way I can debug/cheat/restore his proficiencies???
I've gotten up to chapter 5 and have just noticed that my char and Imoen have lost all of their proficiencies. I didn't notice it until just now when one of them leveled up. (I used it after the last level up). I'm so bummed about this glitch. It pretty much kills the game if you can't fix it.
-edit, this whole profile is a fresh file on a brand new computer on January 29th with the newest bgee update, it was not created prior to November, and this computer has never used an older patch.
-edit, i have not installed any mods prior to this issue occurring, but I had to install ee keeper to fix it.
