Well, that dog doesn't look like a hell-hound so perhaps it instinctively knew that it couldn't beat Torgal. Flail heads have no scent, so it wouldn't know about the one with the golems either. My guess is Glacius gave the dog the one head because it's so cute and he couldn't resist. He was doggie-charmed!
