I'm really strange about saemon. I really liked him. Even after he pulls all his dick moves through ToB, I didn't hold it against him. I chose all the dialog options closest to "hey man, wats up?" Every time I saw him. Never managed to hate him. No idea why.
There's really no option with Haverian. It's not like you can convince him not to hose you over. So he really isn't suprising you at all since he's consistent in what he does. His "quests" all force you down a certain path on rails.

@booinyoureyes I always took the Sahugin City route to be able to pause, force attack and kill Saemon when the Sahugin board the ship, only to find him alive and well in Amkethran.

Yeah, the illithid will be like, "That being sustains itself on its own waste. Its brain is unfit for even a starving illithid.", and then it'll eat a bunch of kobolds and be full and then you can kill it because it's sick.
