I don't own either, but when I've always been more interested in owning a dog than a cat.

I've almost forgotten how to talk to dogs. I'm too used to talking to my cats instead, I've forgotten what it's like to be knocked over and slobbered on
also dogs are so much more active, they're great fun to run around and play with whereas cats will sit either sit there and look bemused or go insane and wonder why you're cowering in fear.
