I believe the proper name for this kit would be "Justiciar of Tyr", as described in the Player's Guide to Faerûn. Furthermore, I think it is safe to assume it will be included eventually, along with other new Kits (probably related to Ilmater, Martyred Champion perhaps?), much like what happened in the .2012 patch for the first game. I also think it is safe to assume we will see another sorcerer kit, given the fact that it is the only class that lacks at least 2 of them (if you count barbarian as the fighter kit it is).
@Loub the kit works as a cleric's that's why I said Cleric of Tyr, I know that it is a lame name, I don't even wrote Priest like the game's kits. I certainly like the "Justiciar of Tyr" name much more, but I am sure that it's better for paladins. Also, I think that anything related to a Priest of Sune kit could be taken as joking (almost, it might be nice to have more cleric kits, which ever deity gets a kit, certainly I stick with Mages and Thieves).
^im not joking I really would like a priest of Sune : )
yeh I'm aware of the Heartwarders but I just use the same naming mechanics as the game. Also Sune has got a bunch of clerics so I think a cleric kit would be fine
@Crevsdaak It's a 3rd edition fan made adaptation... but remove the skill requirements and blend with the link below and you get how it worked in 2nd edition:
The Northern Journey Campaign has indeed many detailed AD&D second edition informations about the majory of gods, their churches, the specialty priests within them, as well as their deity specific spells.
Not really. Notice how @Jalilly didn't answer the question, only stated what its purpose is at the moment. She didn't give a definite "no"
So it COULD be usable, just not yet.
They didn't say anything about it before they gave us the last bunch of classes out of the blue either. And that's one surprise I definitely didn't mind.
It would be nice to add some of the "racial deities" People have mentioned for halflings, but I'd also like to see a Moradin or Clangeddin kit, a Corellon kit for elves and ESPECIALLY Garl Glittergold (my favorite deity). These would fit well for mod NPCs if they were well-made.
I don't like Ranger/Cleric because it's broken to the point I consider it cheesy, but I'm likely in the minority here, and don't judge anyone who enjoys the class.
As to Clerics: As I said, I never play them, but considering the heavy influence of myriad gods in the Forgotten Realms when compared to other settings, I think this class, more than any other, ought to have a prolific number of kits. Additionally, each one should, for immersion's sake, have its own stronghold. I consider it a fault of the original game, not the EE - that said, Overhaul/Beamdog has an opportunity to rectify this. It's possible some random Wizards lawyer says they can't create new strongholds, and hey, that sucks, but I understand. They have to work with what they're given. But they've established that they can add in PnP kits. This one is a half-step - it'd be cool if they fleshed it out into a playable class.
It would be cool to kit the existing cleric NPCs and give them some cool abilities or let them use their deities favorite weapon (best part of divine remix was making Tiax, Branwen, Vicy, etc have unique Cyric, Tempus, Shar, etc special powers/spells)
Yea they should really make this kit available in BGEE/BG2EE. The patching has been so slow (I totally agree with the "glacial" term used elsewhere) and it would be nice to have a new option available because of that. Especially since they've already written up a description for it and programmed it into the game. As for BG2EE just treat it as you would a generic cleric when it comes to strongholds.
I'd just give the cleric of Tyr Helm's stronghold- Helm has much more in common with Tyr then Lathander, and could probably live to 'Tyr's virtues' by choosing answers Helm would approve of (save for the person who has fallen in faith, perhaps- Tyr would more likely go Lathander's way of giving her time then Helm's remind her of her duties).
I think that go could get Lathander's or Helm's depending on your alignment. LG/NG->Lathander and LN->Helm. I was tempted of modding this into the game, but I also hope for Beamdog to include it.
Wait a minute... doesn't that make Coffeetender his father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate? And why is it that familiy matters tend to be complicated even in video games? It would be way easier if people were born on trees, like Maple Willow Aspen!
"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious."
I would personally suspect that the creation of a class kit is one thing. Balancing it for player use is something completely different. Which isn't to say that it can't be done, just that it hasn't been, YET. We can always hope.
Seems like as it currently stands it is pretty balanced to me. Currently Divine favour only goes up to level 18, meaning +6/+6, but clerics can't use any of the speed weapons so that advantage has its limits.
Ummm so let me get this straight: You guys programmed an entire kit, proceeded to make a complete, official description, and it's not going to be usable.
I think for a cleric of Tyr, your best bet would either be the Helmite stronghold (which as others note creates a ton of problems, or better yet give them the Paladin Stronghold quests.
Also the Triad that ppl are referring to is the Triad of Gods that paladins may venerate (as the triad, although still the paladin usually tends to hold one above the rest. Also there was a Paladin order of the Triad once): Torm, Tyr and Ilmanter
I tried installing it in BG1, but I keep getting an error message.
Yeah, there's only a check for BG2:EE. Open setup-rhtyr.tp2 with a light text editor (Notepad++ is recommended) and where it says REQUIRE_PREDICATE GAME_IS ~BG2EE~ add BGEE after BG2EE, so it looks like this REQUIRE_PREDICATE GAME_IS ~BG2EE BGEE~, that should make it work
I still want more clerics. Bring on Lorekeeper of Oghma too!
Here, here!!!
My first completion of a full run through TOB was with a Divine Remix modded Tutu run, using the Lorekeeper of Oghma kit on a cleric. Extremely satisfying completion, and the lore bonus was wicked handy throughout. Divine Remix really is a powerful mod. It's definitely one I miss using in BGEE/BGIIEE. Greatly helps with the immersion factor, particularly since LOO fits a Protagonist growing up in Candlekeep very well IMO.

Thanks for this.
Unfortunately, although I got it to install and make it available as a playable kit, the special abilities don't work. :-(
@SharGuidesMyHand - I had the check for BG2EE because the spells referenced are BG2EE-only. They don't appear in BGEE itself, and I didn't duplicate them in the modded version.
But hey, if you want it, I've copied them over so that you can play in BGEE as well:

Actually I just noticed it's a 3rd edition adaptation of the 2nd edition rules... I should know better than to post when I'm nearly asleep on keyboard
@mlnevese thank you very much! I'll read it tomorrow, BTW, quick question, it is about 2E right?

You may have already stumbled across this, but if not this guy seems right up your alley
