@winters, haha, he sounds like buzz ligntlear! I'm not kidding, that's exactly what comes to mind, it sounds like the scene in toy story three where they change him to Spanish. But in polish. That 16 charisma really shines! I can see why you prefer that, sense it's in your native tongue, and you may have heard that first.
Thanks @iuventas for that link. I'm in an iPad and can't get into the zip.
@iuventas, there's no such thing as overabundance of Xan's voice! :]
...but only in Polish. I will never ever ever listen to that English youtube video again...
Back to the topic, I agree that Valygar is one of the best choices to make friends with. In addition to various already mentioned virtues, his house is probably the best place to make a party at, come on:D And Minsc. I like big, friendly people. There's about 99.5% possibility I'd have a crush on Kivan.
Imoen absolutely. She's cute, she's smart, she's adventurous, she's fun and she's kind.
Plus, since I'm not Charname in real life, she wouldn't be my sister and we could be friends with benefits.
Really, would you want a psychopath for a real life friend? (Xzar) Or a female Drow? (Viconia) She would sacrifice you or betray in Shar's name. Or be a dominatrix. Or a stereotypical slutty pirate chick? (Safana) She would have her fun and take advantage of you and then rob you and dump you. She's a freaking Chaotic Neutral Thief.
But Imoen is the girl next door that would either be a great friend or a great girlfriend. She might be a Thief, but she's Neutral Good.
Glad to see all the Valygar love here. I'd pick him for a real-life friend too since I'm sure Coran would be that one friend who's always having trouble with the law.
The reason I wouldn't pick Valygar is because I'm an introvert in real life. I'm not a magic uses or follower of an evil god either, so the conversations would be:
Great to read all these responses. I'm somewhat surprised, but glad to see Valygar get some love here. I also notice that we all have quite different tastes. Nevertheless some NPCs remain unmentioned, and for good reason. Who would be buddies with Montaron or Edwin? Otoh I would have expected mention of Alora and perhaps Nalia.
Definately second Valygar - good heart, but not naive. I also like Jaheira - thats someone you can discuss politics with, caring and outspoken... hmm, but Jaheira is also my secret crush, so just friendship might be difficult.
Dude, a crush on Jaheira? Funny how different we all are. I can barely put up with her in a group, let alone romance her even if I switch her portrait to the most gorgeous druid portrait I have haha (I actuallyromanced her once, for the experience, but had to affect the 'Affects' a lot with Shdowkeeper).
ToB Sarevok maybe. That might seem crazy but he just seems incredibly dependable ... and you're no longer having to constantly prove yourself, because you already have.

Haha, yeah I can see that she would not be everyone's cup of tea. I like strong women though. I think Jaheira has a good heart and is able to discuss matters in a honest and passionate way yet be able to take another's perspective. At least, that is my impression after having her in pretty much every party I roll, still our impressions on characters are formed from a pretty narrow source of information, so we are bound to have widely different impressions than if we were to meet them in real life (I reckon).

Me: ...
Val: ...
Me: ....
Val: .....
Me: Yup.
I find it great! People talk... and talk... and talk... and being comfortable with someone enough to sit in silence is something much appreciated in my case as a fellow introvert:)

I actually have a friend that pretty much Serevok. He took my alignment test and got chaotic neutral with STRONG evil tendencies, fighter, and he's also very strong, and at least 16int, if I'm honest. And about 14-15 charisma. I just realized now I've got a miniature Serevok on my hands. (What's hilarious is that he has a LG cleric for a girlfriend. Arie.)Once he picked me up and dropped me. It cracked the screen on my ipad mini, which I had in my pocket.
well her concerns seem to be having fun and people being happy, I think that would be quiet a good friend to have and she could always get u out of trouble in a pinch. I tend to like having cheerful people around me to keep my spirits up so Alora would be ideal. If not her Khalid he just seems like a sound guy to me.
ENTP Extravert(1%) iNtuitive(50%) Thinking(38%) Perceiving(22%) You have marginal or no preference of Extraversion over Introversion (1%) You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (50%) You have moderate preference of Thinking over Feeling (38%) You have slight preference of Perceiving over Judging (22%)
I don't understand. Does this means chaotic good? :P
@meagloth, MBTI types say more about temperament than ethics/morals, but certain types have certain tendencies, that's for sure. ENTP is the stereotypical insane inventor, hyperactive man-child, or, let's not overcomplicate things, MCU RDJ's Tony Stark :] So, CG is the most possible alignment, I agree, but I think CN and CE are as probable. I'm an INTJ which is IMO overexploited as the evil mastermind, typically LE or LN (Khelben!) but I personally consider myself True Neutral with CG tendencies.

WOOOHOOO!!!! I'm iron man, everybody!
@winters I have a similar situation to you. I consider myself to CG, but I'm usually pegged as TN because I try to act unbiased and fair, but it's in the interest of the greater good. I don't pick sides unless it really matters or doesn't matter at all.

I'll try this later. Am at work now. Maybe I'll ask you to explain though

@Blackraven it takes like, <5 minutes. All the questions are T/F
ENFP You have strong preference of Extraversion over Introversion (89%) You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (50%) You have distinctive preference of Feeling over Thinking (62%) You have strong preference of Perceiving over Judging (78%)
This matches what I got when I took the full test 14 years ago.
You have moderate preference of Introversion over Extraversion (44%) You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%) You have distinctive preference of Feeling over Thinking (75%) You have moderate preference of Perceiving over Judging (56%)
Now I'm starting to wonder how BG NPCs would look like on MBTI/Jungian scale.
Hard to say... I tried it for a few NPC's, but some questions are hard to answer (NPC's don't often make decisions in game for example, so it's hard to say what their preference would be).
For Aerie I got INFJ. I won't bore you with the reasoning behind every answer. As a mage, I'd say she likes to prepare and plan things in advance. She seems like she'd be quite a neat person, and definitely shy and introverted preferring to mix with small groups rather than crowds. But she obviously does get concerned and is sympathetic to those around her. As a mage she analyzes things, and seems to spend a lot of time pondering stuff, but then often wastes no time just acting on her emotions if she feels strongly about something. Does she find it hard to talk about her feelings? Not with the bhaalspawn, but the bhaalspawn is the only one she does talk to... but, in the end I answered that she didn't. Anyhow, it ended up looking like this:
You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (78%) You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (25%) You have moderate preference of Feeling over Thinking (50%) You have slight preference of Judging over Perceiving (22%)
Myself incidentally, came up INTJ. But then I knew that; I've done these tests before.
Introvert(100%) iNtuitive(38%) Thinking(12%) Judging(56%) •You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (100%) •You have moderate preference of Intuition over Sensing (38%) •You have slight preference of Thinking over Feeling (12%) •You have moderate preference of Judging over Perceiving (56%)
I'm not sure what this has to do with friends preference, but I took the test, just because I find such things interesting. So, is that me or not? Most of you who post here frequently know me pretty well by now, especially given the recent brouhaha, and my role in it. (LOL - I think I might start calling that whole business "That incident which shall not be named.")
If it helps make a contribution to data collection for this thread, then, my self-assessment of which BG characters I'd be friends with in real life are as follows:
Honestly, I'm not sure if I'd successfully become real-life friends with any of them, given my extreme introversion and basic mistrust of people, and preference to be alone. Length of time knowing each other would be a huge factor, as lifelong friends get to know me enough to generally be able to engage me in intellectual discussion, and to pull me out of my funks when I need it.
1) Imoen has to be at the top of the list, purely because we grew up together, and thus, she would be the exceedingly rare person who has my unconditional trust. The fact that she sticks with me no matter what is a huge factor in our friendship. Her relentless cheeriness in the face of my constant emotional distance, cynicism, and stodginess would be another huge factor. She'd be the rare person who actually understood me, and that I had a good and compassionate core at the base of what I show the world 90 percent of the time, and that I'd actually overcome the overwhelming fear that is the dominant force of my personality, for someone who had my love and loyalty, and fight like a champion for her or him.
2) Xan would be my second, just because he understands as I do that life is meaningless. I think Xan and I would understand each other perfectly, and that we would develop our own language together that reinforces each other constantly about our mutual understanding of the paradoxes inherent in the fact of life that we're all doomed, but that there is still pleasure and fulfillment to be had in embracing the doom and the meaninglessness of it all, to the point that you can smile at it.
3) Ajantis and Keldorn wouldn't exactly be friends of mine, but I'd be so caught up in their visions of rightness and justice, and so admiring of their strength and courage, I'd pretty much follow their leadership, even unto the gates of hell. (Which actually literally happens in the game.) I would only hope that I would be given some power that might help them. Being able to heal them and protect them in a way that they would approve of me comes to mind, so I think being a cleric is profoundly logical for me in the D&D world.
4) Jaheira wouldn't exactly be my friend, either, but, I'd admire her so much, I'd follow her commands and guidance unconditionally. It's a bonus that her husband Khalid and I would relate together quite well. So, Khalid and I could definitely become real-life friends.
5) I'd have some trouble relating to Minsc as first met and without really knowing him. Dynaheir, on the other hand, is a woman I could have a very deep friendship with, so the whole thing would depend upon the order in which I met them, and the circumstances.
6) I could be good friends with Yeslick for the same reasons as with Ajantis and Keldorn.
All of the above would be heavily contingent upon the relative ages of the BG characters and me upon meeting.
Most of the others of them would immediately cause me to mistrust them, and they would likely reject me on impulse upon first meeting, if I didn't do the same. Whimsical, funny, random people, who make that obvious with everything they do and say, make my defenses go up really fast, and my emotions bristle. It's a very, very rare person who bears with me long enough to see past my defenses.
Interestingly, the people I could be friends with in the BG world are pretty much the canon party.
