Not bad for so few predictions I guess.
James would get my vote for player of the tourney, even though they went out in the quarters. He was my fave player to watch, and watching Robben and Muller always makes me want to smack them a little. *cough* Sorry.

He will coach the Azzurri don't worry

But who will coach Juventus? Prandelli's with Galatasaray so that's not an option leaving only two worthwhile candidates at least IMO: Franceso Guidolin or Luciano Spalleti. However, even if Juventus manage to get one of them then they face a huge problem. Pogba and Vidal have been linked with transfers all season and Conte resigned mid-July meaning whomever comes in will have little time to prepare the squad ahead of pre-season and be faced with the prospect of convincing his two best players to stay.

Spalletti is a legend. My favorite football quote is from him:
"I've got Roma tattooed on my balls"

Brazil were terrible, kinda like the Garrick of the World Cup.

4th place wasnt what they were hoping for, and agreed the country might played better, but 4th isnt a bad finish. They clearly had some gargantuan leadership problems, hence performimg poorly when stressed.

Btw, England is beyond question the Garrick of the tourney here. :p Brazil was more like Khalid actually, fine on paper but their morale kept collapsing. Actually, the dislike is totally Khalid too.

Germany was Baeloth, Argentina was Dorn, Netherlands was an agressive over achieving Shar-Teel... speed and damage!

The comparisons to BG characters in this post are spot on

Only change I'd make is Germany is clearly Sarevok.
  • DreadKhanDreadKhan Member Posts: 3,857
I felt they were 'brutally compotent shapers of reality, bending physics to their every whim', but Sarevok fits that too actually.

How about Spain's version of the Community Shield? You know... the where Atletico tied on the road in the last minute against the most vile villains in all the Realm!

The Dark Lord Ramos tried his best to cheat noble Sir Mario of Mandzukic but it did not work

I know this is probably the least active thread on this site right now, but I just want to say it is AWESOME to have 3 Greek players on Roma. I am just as happy as when they bought Bradley and then Torosidis and Tachtisidis, except that these players might be better!

The transfers of Manchester United this season have been surprising, to say the least. This is how their best starting team will look like:

Looks like a pure kensai to me.

We can vote for the most beautiful goal during 2013-2014 - the FIFA Puskas Award.

    The voting is here: http://www.fifa.com/ballon-dor/puskas-award/index.html

    Here're 3 options:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQOuMWiGMrU

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GESyL3MkgNU

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeKSmd-hjwo

    I voted for Stephanie Roche!
  • FinneousPJFinneousPJ Member Posts: 6,455
@bengoshi You can't view the vids on this site apparently.

As for the nominees, while a beautiful goal, I don't think Roche should win. You have to take into account the competition. It's easier to bounce the ball around and perform tricks in a relative low-standards women's league than the men's world cup. I could score that goal with the amount of space and time she had :P The real finalists are Rodriguez and v. Persie. I voted v. Persie.

ugh... I have to vote Van Persie (it hurts!)

but let's be honest: the Zlatan goal vs Bastia should have won. It is criminal that it didn't get this far. Absolutely absurd.

This award is usually just given to the biggest star, unfortunately, so I think Van Persie will win (he deserves it out of those three). I remember when Grafite got robbed by a very, very ordinary goal by Ronaldo in I want to say 2009 (whenever his last season at Man United was).

I like the Rodriguez goal a lot, but it is a goal you see quite often. The Van Persie goal was unique (the Zlatan goal was also unique... except that Zlatan does that all the time haha) and therefore the Dutchman deserves it. The Roche goal has no business being there over Zlatan and the South American goal, never mind winning, since it was done in a woman's competition in front of a seemingly empty stadium. The other two goals are in the World Cup and one was against the best team in the world at the time.

Still Zlatan is always getting robbed. When you realize he has never been top 3 in Ballon d'Or voting it makes Boo shake his little fists at the injustice and want to go butt-kicking for goodness!

Today Cristiano Ronaldo will likely get the 3rd Ballon d'Or.

You can follow the live text translation here:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2906399/Ballon-d-LIVE-Cristiano-Ronaldo-Manuel-Neuer-Lionel-Messi-battle-world-s-best-footballer-Zurich.html

Of course, there're 3 candidates: Cristiano Ronaldo, Manuel Neuer and Lionel Messi. But I'm almost sure CriRo will make it.

Logic and common sense have been used.

The FIFA task force has recommended that the 2022 World Cup is played from late November to late December at their final meeting in Doha, to avoid the fierce heat of the Middle East in June and July.

The proposal will be discussed at the next meeting of the FIFA executive committee, scheduled to take place at the home of FIFA in Zurich on 19 and 20 March 2015.

I'm really curious to see how the European teams will agree to that.
I personally think that World Cup in Qatar is a bad idea.
For the sport, that is. For the money, that's a brilliant move.

So there will be no USA, no Netherlands, no Chile, no Wales, no Australia in the next World Cup. No Arjen Robben, no Alexis Sanchez, no Gareth Bale...

    These are huge misses! http://www.goal.com/en/news/alexis-robben-and-the-stars-who-will-miss-the-2018-world-cup/1xpbsz5eh6fkn1xxz9eemproa8

    And it's not over yet.
Italy is still pending, which means NO to many other football stars like...
    let me think
    Baggio... retired
    Del Piero - retired
    Totti - retired
    Pirlo - retired

    Ok I've got one!!
    No Gigi Buffon!!!

You're too harsh on Italy, - there're new players in the team. They were very good under Conter in the Euro, and although I know Gian Pero Ventura may not be a popular person right now, the team is still there.

    Seeded: Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Denmark
Unseeded: Northern Ireland, Sweden, Republic of Ireland, Greece

Do you really think Italy is weaker than any of those 4 unseeded teams? I remember Italy - Sweden match from the Euro, - do you think Italy is now worse?
  • WesboiWesboi Member Posts: 403
No Robben is a good thing as he is a notorious diver. It's a shame Uruguay qualified can't stand suarez and his racist bitey diving antics.

    I'm shocked at the result.

Thing with Italy they've lost there identity the past decade or so and mainly due to how the game has changed pace and it's far more technical now. Italy was renowned for its defensive capability but it's seem have lost it's way in trying to find who Italy are.
  • PibaroPibaro Member, Translator (NDA) Posts: 2,989
    I'm not shocked.
    Ventura couldn't handle the pressure.

While it's true that Italy was renowened for its defensive capability, it's also true that we had great football players too, but in the last decade we had only mediocre players.
Conte made a miracle last year in the european cup.
