I was killed by a killer bee whom attacked in a group of five my level 7 Wizard had low HP and very low SP, so I died... Also I was on tha' fuckin' Gnomish Mines, level 6 IIRC.
Best weapon in Angband is a dagger, no shizz. You equip it and get (often) multiple attacks to one from other creatures. Also, hoard Speed potions for boss fights, like Boldor, King of the Yeeks. Boldor isn't actually that hard to kill. It's the 50+ other Yeeks that are around when he appears! Best bet is to fight in a corridor. It limits the number of attackers you have to face at once. I actually found Orfax, son of Boldor, much more annoying... And if you happen to find one of the artifact Daggers (Dethanc, Narthanc, Nimthanc), you'd better hold on to that one! Another good thing to stock up on before you enter the dungeon is all sorts of healing potions. I like the Potion of Healing, should you find one (Cures up to 1000 points of damage) and *Healing* is even better.
And, when killed, Bosses drop really good magic items and sometimes, Artifacts. If you ever find a glowing Phial, that's a Phial of Galadriel and is a permanent lantern (Lanterns provide more light over a greater area than a mere torch), and every fifty moves, you can activate it to light up a room.
@LadyRhian yes, Orfax is a little bit more difficult, since he heals himself sometimes, but Boldor had lots more of HP than me (IIRC I had 98 and I was level 13), and I had no more mana and I had consumed all my potions. I tried escaping with a Word of Recall scroll but fied before being teleported away

You should totally do a sort of lets play of Nethack. Start a game, give us updates, see how long you last. Bonus points if you do it in "hopelessly doomed adventurer's journal" format.

I was killed by a killer bee whom attacked in a group of five my level 7 Wizard had low HP and very low SP, so I died... Also I was on tha' fuckin' Gnomish Mines, level 6 IIRC.
And, when killed, Bosses drop really good magic items and sometimes, Artifacts. If you ever find a glowing Phial, that's a Phial of Galadriel and is a permanent lantern (Lanterns provide more light over a greater area than a mere torch), and every fifty moves, you can activate it to light up a room.

The glowing Phial is always a Phial of Galadriel. Always carry numerous healing potions.And Speed potions if you can find them.
