Oh brother Thurm, why not grace our ears with a ripping tale of the old days, always a delight...

Who would you say are the most psychologically unbalanced characters in the BG series? And have you created any player-character concepts of your own that gave some of those characters a run for their money?

Rank them if you like.

Im not good at creating crazies :)

I think the most psychologically unbalanced character is Neb the child-killer. Lots of characters are half crazy in bg 1/2, but most of them have enough of a rein on themselves that they can somewhat function in society, Neb is faaaaar out.

I'd like to add Mutamin as a contender.
Somehow this seems to be Gnome territory. Besides Mutamin, and the already mentioned Neb, we have Kalah in BG2, and Tiax is pretty far gone as well.

Old hermit running around in only his diapers. Yeah that's not weird.

So no one mentioned Xzar yet? Or Minsc for that matter? You guys are missing the obvious ones.

And Minsc seems to be able to handle himself in society well enough, even with his issues.

It's the sound set that makes him funny ass hell "crazy"

All his dialogue is actually intellectually refreshing

I'd say Sarevok is pretty twisted up (in addition to being evil) although there is a reality base to his grandiosity--he is a Bhaalspawn, after all. His scheme to start a war to resurrect Bhaal and then steal his portfolio is kinda nuts. Then again this is the Forgotten Realms we're talking about.

Most inmates at Spellhold are very crazy. Dradeel and Golodon the Unmanned being prime examples. Tiax, Edwin, Xzar all seem insane but they can function sane enough to be playable npcs and they can contribute to a party. The crazies in Spellhold can only be rallied into a suicide mission.

There's Brage of course, but that's attributable to the cursed sword. He does sort of have PTSD from it, though.

Re: Edwin he's sane but he's a narcissistic sociopath. That describes most evil wizards in the Realms, really.

Even if we take Xan as the Realms' version of Richard Lewis his pessimism isn't exactly balanced. (Funny, though!)

Noober, he's not exactly what you would call a balanced individual.

Elminster. Not to imply anything, but pestering strangers about their mental state doesn't seem all that well adjusted to me.
