Installment number eight of my class poll series! Now we're on to my favorite class of all time, so I hope to see plenty of action on this thread! As always, this is for personal preference, and not to say what is the strongest kit. That said, feel free to debate to your heart's content in the comments!

Blades probably most powerful but not bardy enough for me. They'e kind of like wannabe Swashbucklers.
Jester interesting as well. Who knows I might someday roll a Lord Binky the Buffoon charname...
Anyway I'm sure I'll be reviewing these in teh coming days in my thread. Still wrapping my head around some characters even though my thief is rather set in stone in my head.
I did find them a little distracting to play as I very much like to hurl magic and use my weapons but that interrupts the song!!
But they are great fun and a very unique and entertaining kit! Bards in general I think are my favorite kits to play, along side my sorcerers.
And those that are fools, let them use their talents."
Jester: parks in middle of the bad guys the party wants to kill and just stays.
Jester: laughs as enemies scramble around without any clue where that singing is coming from
Party: quickly finish "near dead" enemies
Party: having a party, obviously!
LAI LAI HEI~! \m/
Now, where did I put my drinking horn again?
My first CHARNAME was a 77 point Vanilla Bard. I've always fancied myself a Bard of sorts. I roll other classes, (except Paladins, pshaw!), but I always come back to my lute.
@sandmanCCL and @Cheesebelly in the far past, @Oxford_Guy and @KidCarnival in the past, @jackjack and @booinyoureyes nowadays
Let me quote (http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/63575/#Comment_63575) sandmanCCL: "Bards are amazing. Even plain bards, though it's a class you should obviously kit because all the kits are insane awesome and it's not like you can dual-class.
I mean, no one plays a plain paladin, not with how overpowered Cavalier is. Even Undead Hunters are huge bonuses for very little downside. No one plays a plain fighter because Berzerker exists.
So I don't buy the "Bards are underpowered" thing. First off, wands. Yeah, okay, mages are "better" at spells. But if you have the money, bards are just as good especially in BG1 because they still reach level 4 spells I believe.
Bards can also equip any weapon. That's a huge deal, being able to equip whatever you want and being diverse in that. It allows you a lot of wiggle room for the rest of your party. They make excellent two-hander wielders for this reason.
They are arguably the best single class once you get into epic levels, too. Epic Bard Song is amazing and essentially negates the only downside to Blades. Spike Traps are totally overpowered. Use All Items is obviously pretty broken.
I really don't know why there are so many people out there who dislike them. Maybe just because the two Bard NPCs in BG1 are so trash?"
So added a lot of RP value them just your average bard.

And here are the lyrics for those who don't have time and are just skimming:
I'll buy you six bay mares to put in your stable ---
six golden apples bought with my pay.
I am the first piper who calls the sweet tune,
but I must be gone by the seventh day.
So come on, I'm the whistler.
I have a fife and a drum to play.
Get ready for the whistler.
I whistle along on the seventh day ---
whistle along on the seventh day.
All kinds of sadness I've left behind me.
Many's the day when I have done wrong.
But I'll be yours for ever and ever.
Climb in the saddle and whistle along.
So come on, I'm the whistler.
I have a fife and a drum to play.
Get ready for the whistler.
I whistle along on the seventh day ---
whistle along on the seventh day.
Deep red are the sun-sets in mystical places.
Black are the nights on summer-day sands.
We'll find the speck of truth in each riddle.
Hold the first grain of love in our hands.
A fighter/bard was my favourite char in NWN/2. I'm sad they're so sucky in this game
Additionally I really felt that the whirling, viciously mobile Hellstorm she became as a high level Blade was so apt for the dark Bhaalspawn path.
