Edit: thanks for the fix bengoshi!
"TO: We screwed up. We made the same rookie mistake that many studios do, and we caved to external pressure and shipped Baldur's Gate: EE and Baldur's Gate II: EE earlier than we should have..."
Thumbs up! It needs the guts to admit it.
It's interesting to know that only several weeks ago (and this interview was apparently made in September) Trent again gave "within a month or so" evaluation. And this evaluation came on the basis of them knowing the game even didn't start a players beta stage then.
"While we don't have a final ship date yet, as we want to ensure the quality before we release the game, we are in the late stages of testing with a current burn-down indicating a ship date later this month or early October."

I also like the mention of how hard the game is and how some of the new stuff will make life easier.
--- sweet. add them to baldur's gates too right away, especially since bg2:ee is getting a new patch.
I never got the chance to use it.
Also, from what I've researched in Mikesrpgcenter.com, the list of magic items from IWD seems to be very poor compared to BG's...
All the BG1 items were in IWD, just not implemented. You could theoretically use your BG1 character in IWD (go to hell, timeline!), complete with items if you used Dalekeeper. Then again, IWD had better loots by far!
you're right about *some* items being well known d&d relics, but certainly not *almost all*
