Why is it PS:T instead of P:T? Just curious. Isn't Planescape one word?
Of course, everyone writes IWD for Icewind Dale when I guess it should be ID. Three letters are better than two!
And, I'd also like to see an EE of PS:T
Acronyms aren't made purely with the first letter of each word. IWD and PS:T for instance, uses syllables instead. Otherwise it would be impossible to tell half the existing acronyms apart. Others also use parts of each word to make up a new word, but it's still technically an acronym. Like Nabisco, "National Biscuit Company".
I'm really not supposed to reveal company secrets like this, but...
We do have plans for Ps:T:EE. In addition to the normal enhancements, we also plan to replace TNO with a young drow elf who likes to dual-wield scimitars.
I would certainly welcome an EE. It's a fascinating game, but in terms of graphics, interface, and gameplay I consider it the IE game that has aged the least gracefully of all the IE games.
There are certain mods you can pick up (a must, actually) that really enhance the graphic of Torment and improves the game. It let's you run it in a much higher resolution and it looks very good. Not sure if you've tried it out with the mentioned mods, but if not, you should.
I have three suggestions for minor improvements for PST:EE
1. Whenever the Nameless One does something that shifts his alignment, the game should notify the player about which alignment it shifted to and by how much.
2. The player should be able to choose whether the Nameless One starts the game as a fighter, a mage, and a thief, since it isn't always clear to someone playing the game for the first time how to change their class (in fact, after playing PST almost ten times, I still don't know how to become a thief early on). It would also be nice for the Nameless One to be able to become a fighter/mage, a fighter/thief, or a mage/thief.
3. All of the unused spells should be included if possible.
I also have one suggestion for a new companion:
A marut (an inevitable who hunts down those who try to extend their lifespan or become immortal). If the Nameless One convinces the marut that he is trying to find a way to end his own immortality, the marut could potentially help him achieve that goal.
It probably isn't a very good suggestion for a new companion, but it's what I came up with. Make of it what you will.
The thing about PS:T is not just that it's well written: the game is also unusually tightly written, it has a theme and central question to ask the audience (literally in this case) and most of the places you visit and characters (both companions and plot characters) you meet has an echo of that theme to them. All party members have either a direct connection to The Nameless One, to the the theme, or to both. It's not just a bunch if random but interesting adventurers like in BG (and most other cRPGs), even dumb "bonus" NPCs like Nordom still had this connection to them.
I'm not going to say I believe Overhaul won't he able to write good enough and thematically appropriate stuffs for a potential PsT:EE, but I am going to say I'd rather they didn't try. I'd definitely prefer it if they stuck to technical and visual updates. The content I'd be most interested in changing, though, is removing some of all the useless filler combat - gods know that was the worst and most boring part of the original.
And yes the way I'm going to shorten it is PS:T and PsT:EE, respectively. That's what I think looks best :P

@CamDawg you really want me to have heart attack:) I just feelt it, the spark of joy for a brief moment which made me hear my veins pumping blood. And then I finished reading your post...:) You're a cruel beast, dear sir:)
1. Whenever the Nameless One does something that shifts his alignment, the game should notify the player about which alignment it shifted to and by how much.
I definitely wouldn't mind it as an option but as long as its possible to turn it off. It makes it a little gamey and for the first one or couple of playthroughs, you shouldn't worry about that kind of stuff and just experience the game.
2. The player should be able to choose whether the Nameless One starts the game as a fighter, a mage, and a thief,
I hope this stays the same. sorry.
3. All of the unused spells should be included if possible.
I have no idea what this is so I don't think its appropriate for me to comment on it.
I also have one suggestion for a new companion
scriver's post summed it up pretty well. I don't mind Beamdog's companions and I quite liked Neera in BG1, I have not encountered her in BG2 yet but she was quite good in BG1. Baeloth is probably one of my favorite NPCs in BG1. Still adding additional stuff to PST seems a little sacrilege (sorry, can't think of a better more appropriate word) because almost everything I think, is there for a reason in PST.
Sorry if I missed up a word, a grammar or anything or made the post sounding a little offensive. I did not intent to. I definitely would love more options in IWD games since the game feels open and it would probably feel natural, more quests and recruitable NPCs or anything really, it will definitely be great.
If y'all want to improve the graphics and release it on the App Store, I'm buying a copy, but that is one game that should t have a single thing about it changed.
Torment needs an EE particularly because it needs a very major combat revamp. Make demons actually do something for example. Add more combat areas and allow the characters to reach 20+ levels in order to get HLAs. Scale xp and difficulty accordingly.
There are way too many empty containers in many areas. Put something in them.
Give Nordom an Archer-like kit or an actual Archer kit sans spells.
There are plenty of things that can be done without changing the story at all.
Perfectly fine with items and stuff, just no quests or dialogues.
Enhanced gameplay? Yes Enhanced graphics? Yes Enhanced UI? Yes Additional items? Yes Quests? No NPC's? No Anything dialogue related? No
My PST:EE recipe would just be:
Enhanced UI, Graphics. Not really sure what enhanced gameplay is though. Either way Beamdog definitely shouldn't try to add ANYTHING in terms of quests, npcs, etc.
they can expand baator, carceri, outlands etc. with new locations and add some dungeons to the game. some sigil encounters too. pretty much just combat, no quests or story changes. the game needs this because it feels really condensed. you just stroll through it without real obstacles apart from some adventuring/quest-solving ones - that reduces replayability dramatically compared to BG.
this would, from my perspective, be an example of a gameplay enhancement

Oh, you better believe I'm joking
Also, the cool kids use a lower-case s
Also, in place of the usual theme tune, Deionnarra will say "heya! It's me, Deionnarra!" whenever she starts speaking to you.

Will Morte become an addled Ranger with a Space Hamster companion? I think many found him tiresome anyway.

The game allows you to go to level 99 and actually has a lot of extremely powerfull random loot to farm in the severs late game. There is just no reason to do that.
The choice of "if/when": about TToN it's "when", about PSTEE it's "if". But the most important fact here is that if PSTEE happens, Chris Avellone will be involved.

You could totally replace that annoying skull fellow with the pet cat, everyone will love it!

@Camdawg -
I would buy this just for the sheer troll value
