Lots of references to him. I'm playing on my iPhone, will I meet this guy?

Ahh, yes... that guy whose name sounds like a soufflé. I bet he likes to cook.

It's possible not to meet Solaufein if you kill Adalon before entering Ust Natha. You don't get nearly as much XP taking this path in the game, but it's much faster, avoids a complex and easy-to-fail quest, and gets you an item you need for an upgrade for a really powerful evil-only item.

A little search reveals that he's a joinable character through mods.

Is he able to join my party in an unmodded EE game?

You can also just skip everything (including Adalon) by heading to the Western Tunnels and fighting through the Koa-Toa there.

@Mhamza: Not true, at least in vanilla. This might be different in EE, but you can't get through that door without dealing with Adalon. The idea is that the exit is sealed, and the only way to escape is either to get Adalon's help, or kill her and use a scroll she has to break the seals on the exit.

If my memory is correct, that's the whole point of the Adalon quest--she's not offering you gold or a shiny new sword; she's offering you the way home. She doesn't take no for an answer, either; she turns you into drow even if you say you're not interested, and tells you that you won't be able to get past the elves on the surface unless she takes away the illusion.

My mistake, you're right. Still, I thought there might have been a way to skip her (not that I would, the XP from her quest alone is too much to turn down), since it's possible to skip the gnomes and their quest by just pickpocketing their leader. Adalon calls you out on it though.

I didn't know Adalon complains about pickpocketing the gnome. What if you murder him instead? Will she still be upset?

I imagine Adalon would be angry with you if you killed the gnomes' leader. When it comes to the gnomes' quest and the light gem the game seems to acknowledge whatever way you choose to deal with it. Adalon chastised my evil PC and said that the gnomes have been killed by the demon when I had Imoen pickpocket him.

Adalon said she was less tolerant than others of her kind. I guess she was right.
