That should be a ring that teleports you to a wireframe dungeon, and in the case of TPK, the only recourse is to pop the disk out of the drive before the TPK gets written to disk and you have to start over with a new party.

Do you mean my hard disk drive? Last I checked game data is never saved to the game disk. Also it has been years since I had a game with a physical disk to start with.

My guess is that you will see a mod like this soon (ish) after release. My hope is that someone like camdawg--he created IWDification, after all--will do it

Earliest game I can definitively remember playing was Hugo's House of Horrors.
