@Shandyr , These violin "covers" of popular music are getting more and more popular among violin-playing young people. One of my former students, who is now my colleague as a teacher at the conservatory where I teach, made a couple of her own that she posted on her Facebook page. (Sorry, I don't think I should post the links for privacy and safety reasons, especially not since they would reveal her name, and it's completely up to her whether she promotes her covers and gets noticed or not.)
Thank you so much for making me aware of these two young violinists. These videos can be used for motivating young people to learn the violin, for sure.
I sent the "Frozen" link to one of my student's mothers in email, because she's a huge Frozen fan, and we worked on an easier arrangement of "Let It Go" in a few of her lessons. I used her interest in it to get her to start learning and practicing third position to make the melody sound smoother, although her beginner's Frozen songbook arrangement was an octave lower than what Taylor is playing.
I'm happy to hear that you're starting to expand your music appreciation to include the violin, and hopefully eventually to other stringed instruments.
Oh shoot, I forgot to mention this BG related thing, and I'd rather just post again than to edit.
I've sometimes played violin or flute playing bards in BG, imagined thusly: the versions of the game I played this way allowed skalds to "play" their party buffing "song" while invisible. I went through most of the game in both BG1 and BG2 staying invisible and playing. I imagined the character as using Invisibility as "going ghost". I imagined that enemies would hear and be frightened, confused, and therefore debuffed by my ghostly music, while my party, knowing that I was nearby, would be buffed. I only broke invisibility and fought myself if I was absolutely alone with my friends unconscious, or if some spell I had prepared was needed.
@Shandyr , you've just about inspired me to try that again for SoD, which is even more appealing to me since the Five Flagons Playhouse is my favorite stronghold in BG2.
Does anyone know if the "play bardsong while invisible" feature has been taken out for BG:EE? I recently confirmed that it is definitely out in IWD:EE. If so, does anyone know a mod that will put that (admittedly overpowered bard ability) back into the game? Does Rogue Rebalancing do that?
I read the first post in this thread and thought "Yep, that's about right. But you know what this thread also needs? Taylor Da--" And then I read the second post.
@AlexT and I have had numerous conversations about these two musicians. Both of them are excellent.

She is Taylor Davis.
@Troodon80 has sent this to me.
