Do *NOT* add any new NPCs for Baldur's Gate II!

My suggestion is that it would be more beneficial to keep the characters that they're making on Baldur's Gate I. I think it would be cool to get into a deep romance with Neera, and be able to continue this in the next game. Perhaps, it would be a better idea to cut one character from Baldur's Gate I EE, and add a new one in Baldur's Gate II EE, but keep Neera. I liked the deep conversations with Viconia in Baldur's Gate II. But, then again there weren't very many deep conversations in Baldur's Gate I - the original.

Plus BG2 has considerable fewer NPCs than BG1 even including the 3 new ones crossing over.

Ever try making an all-evil party? Even in TOB you're one person short!

@Edvin well, yes, I agree adding new NPCs would be a really bad idea, especially from a marketing perspective. But I was merely thinking about what Mass Effect did. At the end of the series I really felt a connection to all the characters, but I digress, this is not Mass Effect. So taking the same implemention and implementing it in Baldur's Gate II probably couldn't hurt. Besides, wouldn't Neera and the NPCs from Baldur's Gate EE be considered *new* NPCs? <- that's if they were put in Baldur's Gate II EE.

Hey it would be very good idea to add new areas to BG2 instead of new NPCs, there is still a lot of NPCs but there is no free adventure such as in BG1.

I'm confused as to how people know that they'd be in a romance with Neera and that it would still be interesting after ToB... What if she comes across as annoying, for instance?

Anyway, depending on the time between ToB and BGIII, it might or might not make sense for the same NPC's to be around.

BG2 would need a couple of evil more characters and a neutral one more, at least... Neutral and evil CHARNAMEs are already extremely penalized with the quest assignemnts, and at the moment they can't even form a proper all-evil/neutral solid party.

Bg2 needs a proper neutral thief, if you ask me. There are no good or evil thieves.. there's just.. Jan (kill me now) Jansen.

Playing a fighter/thief or just a thief, just out of a case of utility has really been damaging bg2 for me.. especially since it's more or less a necessity.

    @khyron

totally right, I don't like being a thief and I don't prefer to use yoshimo as a thief which leaves...... Jan. I prefer to play as a blade so a pure thief who's not jan would be a nice addition

I don't see why Neera, Dorn and Rasaad carrying over should exclude any new NPC's for BG2:EE.

    NOOOOOOO! WE WANT MORE NPC'S

They are needed in case Edwin, Minsc, Mazzy and Yoshimo are killed accidently! If you call a knife in the back from a troll an accident... I usually kill Aerie myself... So...

    We want More!

    We want More!

Yes... Sometimes I find that Jaheria gets accidently backstabbed just as she leaves the cage... Got to keep the xp rolling in somehow...

I really think BG2 could use more NPCS. At least one more bard, thief and at least one sorcerer NPC would be great.

I just hope that any new NPC covers more classes.

    - I know that Barbarians are basically a Fighter kit, but a Barbarian NPC would be nice.

    - Sorcerer NPC would be nice too, but I'm not sure how to deal with their spell selection.

I would prefer Yeslick to Korgan personally, I really miss him. And Xan too. But yes, chances are there will be brand-new NPCs in BG2:EE.

@g314, 1 minute of silence for this blasphemy... Korgan is one level down to chuck norris, it's not a roundhouse kick but it's a roundhouse axe :)!

I still didn't lose hope that Team BG will further rework the assignment contract, so they could add content to the old NPCs and maybe even carry some of them to BG II.

Ps: the first part is a joke, i saw that you put personal opinion for this.

my personal opinion is that bg1 had a large amount of characters and is not very necessary to add more. Specially with the bg1 dialogue/romance mods.Bg2 however, does need more evil characters. As it is hard to have an evil party on it.

It would be better if the enhanced edition was like a ''supermod'' collecting the best mods of trilogy and tutu. Or at least making easy to install the best mods separetedly.

Extra characters are not necessarly bad (if they are done with the same quality as the original game),but there are many things that are far more important. People greatly overstimate them.

Imo, Baldurs gate series have already cool characters as it is.

The 3 new BGEE characters are basically confirmed to be in BG2EE as well. But BG2EE still could use some additional characters, especially some kind of evil thief (maybe an assassin).

yeap an evil thief and a good cleric... I always want to kill Anomen after a time...

Still bothered by the fact that some people would be against adding anything that amounts to an optional feature to a game.
  • kamuizinkamuizin Member Posts: 3,704
    @kilroy_was_here, depends on the situation.

Would you like a pink elephant NPC... ok, don't answer this one (i would like it too), but you get what i mean, we must keep the coherence on game or we risk to break the legendary status BG has achieved.

If Viconia love you, she never abandon you. ( Even with hight reputation )

I know. Played with her as well. It's just that sometimes you want to keep your party as an all good alignment. Anomen and Aerie are the only options in this case.

I wouldn't mind a good mage type character that is just a pure mage (or sorcerer) and nothing else.

A Sorcerer and Barbarian NPC (just to round out the additional classes) would be awesome
