Nice catch. There was always something bothering me about the name "Semaj". Thanks for solving that puzzle.
As a DM, I had a player whose name was Fred, and he tried every combination of his name for his new characters. We suffered through Derf, Ferd, Dref, Refd, Erfd and Red F before I told him I would backhand him if he used something like that again. So, of course, his next character was Fredderf. And yes, I smacked him, but not very hard.
As for me, I liked Sendai, Shoal the Nereid, Drienne (the girl with the dead cat), Lord Binky, and of course, Lord Foreshadow.
When I first played D&D my friends and I all choice suitably heroic names for our characters except for one guy who insisted on calling his character Ted. The character died and was brought back to life - as Ressurec-Ted. And in a later incarnation became Reincarnate-Ted.
There are a lot of awesome names throughout BG, but I will list just a few that were not mentioned thus far.
Tarnesh - mage at the Friendly Arms Inn, the bane of a low lvl party. Reevor - generous dwarf that sends us to a glorious battle against rats. Neira - assassin in the Nashkel's inn. Nimbul - another assassin in Nashkel after chapter 2 (btw. his voice actor is the same guy, who did Raziel in the Legacy of Kain series, which is awesome). Arghain - half-ogre with a two handed sword +1 who wants our iron. Kahrk - ogre-mage at the Firewine bridge. Gerde - she instructs us about Ankhegs, and helps with fighting those. Baerin - archer in Kirian's party where basilisks reside. Raiken - guy in Peldvale that can recruit us to the bandit camp. Drasus, Genthore, Rezdan - mercenaries just outside Cloakwood mines.
