My party stumbled upon a Rashad's talon, leather armor, and The Iron Thorn, just sitting around the Cloakwood. Did someone make a nice pile of their gear before jumping off the cliff or something?
You may have noticed my playthrough is slightly slower than your own
He definitely has some sort of handicap, a (bad) limp or even an amputated hand or foot! It probably happened when he was training with the guard, as his earliest dream had been to become a Paladin. A dream put to rest when a drunken Hull stabbed him through the calf/hip.
"Some Hag wanted us to kill some Hobs up north and find her ring. She had nothing to offer so we ran her off, killed the Hobs, and sold the ring." An excerpt from the diary of Murtan Criid.
"Reached Beregost late, made a straight line to an inn to grab a couple hours sleep. Soon as we stepped through the door some fool tried to pick a fight with Xzar(not that I blame him). If that had been the end of it the man would still be alive, instead he tried to bash Xzars head in(almost succeeded!) so we left him bleeding out in the entryway" An excerpt from the diary of Murtan Criid.
Mages have the power, run into the same spiders and just put em all to sleep no prob!
Going forward, I probably won't have that many deaths....
Well, color me wrong!
Yeslick got stung by waylaying wyverns shortly after closing down the Cloakwood mining operation. We laid him to rest in a nice clearing north of the palisades.
And then Khalid got gutted by umber hulks en route to Baldur's Gate.
Our party detoured back to Nashkel so his body could rest beside Jaheira's body.
Bye Yeslick! Bye Khalid! Sorry you had to go, but now you're at rest, unlike the rest of us poor sods.
Juni: Wait... what are you saying about my parents? Elminster: Oh nothing! Nothing at all! Why would I say anything about your dear old pater, ha ha? *hisses under his breath* brehhhhhhhhd in the boooooone
But it seemed he was always telling me something I already knew and then acting like he was so helpful.
Especially when he vagues on about how you have tainted blood, and this evil in you is certain to break out eventually, and Gorion did the best he could the misguided fool but there's just something inherently wrong with you. 'Cause that's so inspirational and not a reason to spiral into depression at all!
A lot happened recently, in a short time. Apologies if the writing is annoying
Excerpts from the Journal of Murtan Criid:
"Stopped at the house of Firebead Elvenhair since he had asked me to if I was ever in Beregost. He asked me to find him a book, I already knew there was a copy of 'The Fateful Coin' across the street. I informed him of this but he still wanted me to go get it for him... We did, I could feel the Minstrels singing in honor of our bravery."
"Killed a few big human-like... things that were standing around the corpse of a Halfling for whatever reason. Found a random letter on the body, worthless, I'm not a delivery service... all the time."
"Accosted by three Flaming Fist MERCENARIES, the greedy b******s must have been trying to shake us down or something. WE refused... to our own loss and theirs, Jaheira and Khalid have both fallen to their blades. Probably best that they died together as the whining would have driven us as mad as Xzar."
"Returning to Beregost to recuperate I stopped at a mercenary shop in the hope of hiring some extra muscle. The Dwarf owner, Kagain, offered to pay me instead! If I helped him find a missing dukeling or some such. A no brainer, we accepted."
"Stopped by a man-child named Garrik(sp?) who offered to pay us to help his 'Mistress'(kinky?); another easy decision, we accepted. Seemed like an easy protection job, and it was, left the three thugs bleeding in the streets and collected our money. The Man-child whined about violence and 'your as bad as her' nonsense before running off. Also, Xzar seems to be more comfortable with the group."
"Some wild eyed 'hussy' stopped us as we wandered Beregost and demanded our help, we said no of course. A band of Thayans showed up as we were walking away and thought we were with the woman, I let them know we wanted nothing to do with her and they were free to do as they like. A spell was cast, everyone was ported a short distance(confusing!) and the Thayans decided to just kill everyone... Well they got their prey and Imoen as well before we finished them off. At least I got a new robe out of it."
Got an admission. I loaded the game... BUT I did it so that I could turn off cosmetic attacks and see attack rolls. I had two mages with ghoul touch(or whatever the lvl 1 spell is) and they missed for like 2-3 minutes on Karlat(the Dwarf bounty hunter in Beregost)... very annoying, pretty sure that spell will no longer(ever) be used. Darts and throwing daggers worked way better... but /sigh didn't want to load >.< lol.

Good back story. The whole failed dreams / maiming goes well with Murtan's ruthless personality.
...we said with straight faces.

Uh, dude, we're the ones who hailed you.
P.S. He did not like being called a tin head.
Elminster: Heyyyyy gurl. Blah blah blah and EVIL BRED IN YOUR BONES!!!
That is literally what he says.
Elminster: Oh nothing! Nothing at all! Why would I say anything about your dear old pater, ha ha? *hisses under his breath* brehhhhhhhhd in the boooooone
Right? Guy should wear a spoiler warning or something, sheesh.
Two, that's two Mr. Rogers references in this thread! AH HA HA HA HA!

...Skie Silvershield!
And yet if I kill them, somehow I'll be seen as the bad guy.
Poor Eldoth! Shot down in flames.
to quote a bandit(I think) "Beg for death!" and they most assuredly are
Ummmmmm, yeah, she's right there.
Or, it might be because you let people steal all your potions and magical items from right under your nose!
