You know, during all these years I've tried a huge mass of characters, party members, styles of play. Group, solo, no-reload, different mods, AI enhancements etc etc.

And I still find new options for a new run. Even after numerous playthroughs I still find something I haven't tried.

In my case, it's creating a custom party with single class characters. I usually like NPC interactions in BG and prefer multiclsss characters for their diversity. But now I'm fully focused on trying this new party of mine...

I'm looking at it and I'm astonished. After 100+ starts in this game, I will experience something new. This is why Baldur's Gate is the best. And thanks to Beamdog for allowing a create party function in single-player.

Indeed. I can't think of any other game which I have completed more than 3 times, much less 20 or more.

The "create party" function was a brilliant idea. Beamdog doesn't get enough credit for the good stuff they put in the Enhanced Editions.

When I finally get around to it I plan to do my full BG, SoD, BG2, ToB run with duo protagonists.

Edit: I hit save too soon because I derped.

Continuing on, I freaking ADORE this sort of option. It's one thing I thought was cool about PoE and now it's a feature in my 2nd favorite RPG (could be first with mods).

I've been creating my own parties in Baldur's Gate for years by playing multiplayer by myself. The only problem with multiplayer is that when you pause you have to wait a second or two until you can unpause. Now I don't have to worry about that.

you could always move the mp save file manually into the single player save folder, then load up the game in single player to avoid this pause delay issue

That is true. Not so long ago i finished game with cavalier, other - with dragon disciple, i also have fighter/thief in SOD and started BG legacy of the Bhaal with full custom party(Icewind Dale style) and i have many classes, their combos yet in mind for future games

Yeah, Baldur's Gate hits that sweet spot for me where its complicated enough to be experienceing new things even 15+ years of playthroughs later, yet not so complicated that I was turned off learning to play it.

On one of my current ganes, I founf out a Thief protagonist with Use Any Item can get a fimmilar from a scroll. Only took a decade and a half lol

After 15 years or so of BG2, there's still a few Bioware NPCs I never really adventured with. I'm using Cernd (with the Totemic Cernd mod) in my current playthrough. And I've never used Mazzy. (Pretty sure I used Valygar and/or Nalia in playthroughs back in the day, though.) Compared with the countless times I've adventured with the likes of Minsc, Korgan, Edwin, Jaheira, Aerie, Viconia, Jan...

I've never made full playthroughs in the first BG with a lot of the characters as well. I've had countless playthoughs with some of the lesser-useds (I'm a Quayle fan), but that still leaves characters like Eldoth, Faldorn, Alora, Skie, and Safana. (The latter two specifially because of their prominence in SoD.)

And this goes without mentioning NPC mods. I've gone through SoA with Kelsey and Keto before. Tried to bring Xan along, but I didn't have room to keep him. It's a game that keeps on giving, from the packaged titles, to the many mods the community has offered over the last decade or so. It's really quite amazing.

The Bhaalspawn Saga will always be my favourite RPG of all time. And I'm saying that as someone who rarely plays PC games.

even for me, I've played these games religiously since '99 and probably have had around 2500+ BG play throughs and over 1500 or so BGII play throughs, and back in the day, I used the odd level cap remover mod a couple of times, and for bg2 I used the original harder demogorgon and weapon proficiency fix, but other than that, I've played mod free solid for all those years, and yet, I always found ways to have fun during my play throughs, I have my technique down to a science, my inventory management is top notch, and thanks to all of beamdog's stuff, I don't need to mod my game at all, and to this day im still having a blastio with it, I can still see myself in 10, 20+ years, still playing the bg series, working on that 10 000th play through, and still loving the game
