I am not sophisticated on uploading pictures but there are a bunch of free sites to host pictures and other content. Once you put it up on one of those sites, I "quote" another poster's post like below (NOTE: I have changed some punctuation so you can see the text instead of the image):

click on the "attach a file" link below the comment box, and browse to the picture you want to upload. Once that has finished, there should be a link underneath the picture to embed the link in your post.
I was so inspired by my own idea on the competition suggestions thread that I made a few FFVI-style sprites of a few NPCS.
They're pretty shameless in terms of the extent to which I based them off original FFVI sprites, but I think they look cool anyway.
These are freaking amazing. I love FF6. I can recognize all the characters and the FFVI sprites you used as their bases, except for Minsc. Can't tell who he's based on.
I am laughing my ass off though at Xan being based off Setzer, for some reason that amuses me to no end. ...Probably because their personalities are so different, while most of the others share a few traits with the characters their sprites are based on.
Minsc is based on General Leo. You might be forgiven for thinking Quayle was based on Strago, but I actually used Gau (when he's dressed up in a suit) - I think those two may be even more different! Glad you enjoyed them. I'll try to do a few more when I have some time.

Actually, I understood that Quayle was based on Gau. Maybe personality-wise they're different, but they're both short, they both rarely shut up, and they both annoy the shit out of certain other party members. They both get pretty in your face. I can actually find less similarities between Quayle and Strago than Quayle and Gau.
Viconia and Celes have similar personalities, but opposite alignments.
Edgar is a much nicer person than Edwin and would probably be more analogous to Coran, but the similarity in both name and ego is enough to make the connection.
I don't even have to explain Xzar. That one is just too obvious.

I then just delete everything except the img code:

Then I replace the http://.......jpg with whatever the link is for the image you want to put in the thread.
It is a low tech way to do it but it works. There are better ways of doing it as well for people who post images more often.
I gave tumblr a go just now and it was probably simpler setting up a new tumblr account, than posting an image on a pre-existing deviant-art account.
