Yeah i know that thread @JuliusBorisov - unlike the F/M/T of @Enchanter255 Su´kka does not have the option of Time Stopping.

The installation aborted - will have to retry it. This may take a while... :D

EDIT: I tested a little bit more after reading other threads but it seems that even if Su´kka survives the first wave the Ascension battle againt the Big Five will be the end. At least i can see no way around it right now. This might be the moment where spellcasters shine while Warrios are suffering horribly. We will see! ;)

    Su´kka vs Ascension Amelyssan

Here is a short briefing of the final fights - thanks to Jim's Fixes and Tweaks the first battle now gets manageable.

    The Welcome Wave -> DONE
2 Fallen Solar -> counter them with Shield of Reflection and they are helpless -> may get killed by own arrows
+Irenicus -> he uses many Time Stops but is no real thread -> hack him to pieces when protections are down
+Bodhi -> either get some leveldrain protection or kite her down -> Protection from Undead did not work!!!
+Slayer Imoen -> wait until she transforms back into Human Form and smash her down

    The Energy Pools -> DONE
These are quite annoying but as you will automatically rest in between every Pool you can burn everything you have on each wave. Su´kka had the best results when abusing Axe of the Unyielding +5 as the decapacitation can instakill any of the demons - just a matter of luck and GWW spamming!

Make sure to avoid stuns using Rage or Greenstone Amulet and especially do not fight the Cambions for longer than one round as their hits are constantly draining your THAC0 each time. One of the Demons - i still do not know which one - can grab your weapons so always take a look at your weapon slots!!!

The most annoying enemy is the Marilith as it not only casts PfMW regularly but will also summon skeletons from time to time. They are no threat but very annoying as they block your running path. The easiest way dealing with the Marilith was: Wait until the Protection expires and rush in with Axe of Unyielding + GWW to get a lucky instakill.

Amelyssan & The Big Five -> NOT FINISHED

This fight looks impossible as Su´kka lacks the option of Time Stop. Lets take a closer look what works so far:

    vs Sendai: Protection from Magic
    vs Illasera: Shield of Reflection
    vs Yaga-Shura: Throwing Axes
    vs Abazigal: Protection from Magic
    vs Balthazar: Untouchable.. pray! :D
    vs Sarevok: Throwing Axes

The incoming Devas and Planetars can be killed with Axe of the Unyielding. So far Balthazar is the most annoying enemy as he moves fast like lighnting, stuns, knocksback and is even able to attack during Time Stop. When this happens its game over. One time Su´kka had him down to badly injured after some good hit and run but - yes - he used his Second-Wind-Instaheal. The next problem is: Even IF Su´kka will be able to kill him Melissan will immediately join the battle. Bringing all of the Five down to near death and killing them only then one after another while NOT dying in between looks impossible at the moment. What would i give for something like Time Stop - isnt there some item available for Warriors that i have overlooked? Will keep on trying! ;)

EDIT: Its absolutely hopeless. Su´kka gets kicked around like there is no tomorrow - nearly any damage is healed in no time - Time Stop + Balthazar are obliterating Su´kka. Slow does not work, leveldrain does not work, decapacitation does not work, kiting does not work - i am slowly running out of ideas. :D

EDIT 2: Su´kka somehow managed to kill Illasera but after Amelyssan approached it was over soon: Time Stop + Balthazar + Amelyssan smashed Su´kka into the ground before she got the chance to use her Anti-Time-Stop-Ability. DAMN IT!!! :D

Can't you go back to a previous save and try to have Balthazar on your side instead of fighting him ?

I've never done the Ascension battle, but I seem to remember Alesia_BH relying on aural cues to know when to use her new ability to ignore time stops. If you were to go back and recruit Balthazar then a time stop can suddenly work hugely in your favour rather than against you ...

As for recruiting Balthy, I think you have to have high reputation and certain stats, it's not that easy.

I know it's quite hard and requires a lot of metagaming, but, in a challenge of this magnitude, it might make a huge difference. Instead of having to avoid two enemies during time stop, it could be reduced to one.

I know it's kinda cheesy, but I would go back (if possible) to a previous save and EEKeeper the stats I need to recruit Balty, just to see if it can be done that way.
  • HarpagornisHarpagornis Member Posts: 1,658
Damn, damn, damn! Su´kka cant convince Balthy because she is "evil". She can convince him committing suicide - but thats it. If i use EEKeeper and change her alignement to "good" Balthy agrees to join.

On the other hand: Doesnt grabbing Blackrazor also change your alignement to evil? With other words: No Blackrazor -> Impossible ToB-Dragons. No Good Alignement -> Impossible Final Fight.

Or is there a way around? Anyway: As Su´kka started as an evil char the whole challenge has failed with regard to this damn last fight. This is so sad...

I will try the "Balthy-joined-path" just for the fun even if its cheating. If it doesnt work with his help Su´kka is doomed anyway :D

Battle agaisnt the Big Five with Ascension and SCS is VERY hard even without LoB. I can't imagine how it feels with LoB...

If you have Helm of OA, you could also change the rewards from the pocket plane Challenges In acsension. They differ (as I remember) and cherrypicking the Best could give you and advantage.

BTW. "Sukkas" run has been really insightfull. Great job on that O'Neill. Played her a a dwarf though, with pips om scimitar and twf. It really shined In Drizzts gear (+2ac and 50%fireres Will work wonders in Sod final battle).
Ps. Belm Ib SOA off course

I never convinced him to suicide, but, if he does, is he still present during the final fight ? If not, maybe that's enough to be able to survive Mel's Time Stop the legit way.

By the way : awesome, awesome run you did !!

But isnt the Helm of Opposite Alignement lost at the beginning of BG2? Or can you regain it?

Balthy will respawn as an enemy in the final fight if he commits suicide - so this is no option!

Lets face the truth: Su´kka is stuck and the "modifications" are just cheating. Result: Failed!!!

@createaccount: Nice to see another challenger - keep going! Hope your Barbarian is "good"! :D

I vaguely remember a detailed post on the Bioware Forums about ways to recruit Balthazar. Someone with a working memory (unlike me - maybe @Serg_BlackStrider could help?) might tell you more, but I think testing showed that it was possible to recruit Balthazar when evil - that just pushed up the other requirements for wisdom, charisma and reputation. Just beware that an awful lot of walkthroughs, wikis etc do not give correct information about what is required to recruit him, so finding accurate information may not be easy ...

Incidentally, even if this is the end for Su'kka it's still been one hell of a ride >:).
  • billbiscobillbisco Member Posts: 361
Technically mods are cheating. I could rewrite Ascension Balthazar to not care if you're evil. Please clua in the Helm talk to Balthazar and remove curse it off. I really want to see you beat this!

Also can you send some screenshots of Su'kka? I want to see our champ's look, stats, and items!

Thanks for the link @chimaera - very helpful indeed! :)

I tried many different combinations of answers while having Reputation 20, Charisma 23 and also pushed Wisdom to 19. And still: There is no way to convince Balthy in joining Su´kka. Suicide? Yes, there are several paths - but not more! There is also one answer-combination thats finally leads to "NO VALID ANSWERS" after that the conversation ends AND Balthy is still neutral.

Su´kka can attack him but after one Second Wind he will use an emergency teleport and is away. No drops, no reappering - he is just gone. With other words: Su´kka is stuck!

I hope to contend... but I am at the moment playing the game on a iPhone 6s. I need to jailbreak it to get SCS and acsension. BTW Still on version 1.3 and eagerly awaiting SOD. So I am just testing ideas.

Would like to test @semiticgod 's ideas, but my phone (read fingers) has some limitations... Micro managing is not an option - and spell casting is allways as if playing a wild mage

so your run is inspiration nr. 1 at the moment. But dont tell semiticgod about it - he will polymorph me into a chicken

Yeah, i was thinking exactly the same @chimaera. Its one of the most promising answer routes that allowed Su´kka to convince Balthy if she is "good" or "neutral". Maybe there is indeed some bug inside.

I get the "No Valid Answer" option also with "only" Rep 20 and Charimsa 23 (Natural 19 + 2 Nymph Cloak + 2 Blade of Rose) so there is no need for cheating the stats. Maybe i should give Su´kka one more try... :D

EDIT: I have played with the "Join-me-Balthy" Su´kka a little bit in the meanwhile. After killing the Fallen Solar at the Elven Grove and murdering the Ravager once more she is now ready for the final battles at the Throne of Bhaal. Too bad that i have no more time - Su´kka will have to wait for one or two days. But isnt the joy of anticipation really the nicest joy? :D

Indeed - I can't tell you how much I look forward to dying regularly :p.

I've had 3 more goes with Frey. Two of those were promising, but cut short by the usual little mistakes just before the Bandit Camp. The one just now was ended by some superb play from the AI though, rather than a mistake. I was in the Cloakwood Mine and had just killed one of the battle horrors and was scouting invisibly to locate the other one. I was prepared for Davaeorn to use detect invisibility if I got close to him, but he fooled me by using his web + stinking cloud sequencer without bothering about knowing where Frey was. Frey was immediately held, though out of sight of anyone - which didn't stop Davaeorn from teleporting straight to him and then using detect invisibility ...

Something is going really wrong at the Throne of Bhaal:

    1. Most Demons are suddenly immune to the decicipation instadeath - dont ask me why!
    2. The Pool in the NE is just going crazy and calling in more and more Demons like Balors - which by themselves will summon more Demons like Cambions, Succubi and Alu-Fiends! This is so ridiculous...

This means: These fights are suddenly a HUGE pain for Su´kka. Both points did NOT happened on my last try.

This is NO fun anymore... :D

EDIT: Patience is the key. After waiting some time the summoned Demon Hordes will just disappear - great!
For some strange reason Su´kka cannot save anymore... :D

EDIT 2: Now the decapacitation triggers like on my last run - what strange magic is going on here? Only one seal left!!!

EDIT 3: Su´kka managed to beat the last Pool and is now facing the Big Five. The biggest surprise: Balthy is NOT there BUT Gromnir Il-Khan replaces him. This will be interesting... ;)

First conclusion of the Big Five without Balthazar:

    1. Gromnir cant compete with Balthazar at any level - kiting rules him hard.
    2. Abazigal slow moving but hard hitting - uses Time Stop and Protection Spells - kite him down
    3. Sendai - teleporting around and sometimes attacking in between. A slippery but harmless fish.
    4. Illasera - Reflection Shield counters her really hard. Switches between attack and running around.
    5. Yagahura - slowly but constantly hunting Su´kka. Kiting should rule him at the end...
    6. Sarevok - sometimes hunting Su´kka, sometimes running around mindlessly - no threat at all...

Far more dangerous so far are the summoned Planetars and Devas thanks to Vorpal Hits so running and waiting until they vanish seems to be the safest way.

Okay, Su´kka knows how to survive but now comes the more difficult task: Hunt them down one after another - this will take forever. Not to mention Amelyssan herself. I am getting tired... :D

EDIT: Killing one of the Big Five - Illasera or Gromnir are easiest - is not that hard. Main problem is Amelyssan:
One Time Stop can be countered with Focus but the second one is deadly: She just runs up to Su´kka and hacks her to pieces in no time. IF Stoneskin would be up in that moment there might be a chance but casting it too early will only mean: Say hello Dispel. Next problem: Amelyssan is so fast that there is nearly no room for kiting and even IF there is time she is nearly always immune thanks to her protection spells. Not to forget: She is constantly summoning Fallen Solars or Demons so Su´kka gets overwhelmed quite quickly. Maybe Su´kka should bring everyone else to nearly dead first as others mentioned and only then bring Amelyssan to the table.

EDIT 2: Amelyssan still refuses to go down - damn. But even if Su´kka will get some damage in: Is it right that she will insta summon ~20 demons in the later stage? That would be another problem! Anyway: I am too tired to try it once more - maybe after some resting and with a fresh mind there is a chance. Maybe! :D

The battle against the Big Five is so hard that even the one against Big Belhifet feels easy:

    1. Getting all of the Big Five to nearly dead and killing them fast one after another once Melissan approaches does not work. They not only use Healing Potion after Healing Potion but whenever one of them drops Sendai will appear and casts her "Heal" so everyone is at full HP again in no time.
    2. Amelyssan and her Summons are an even bigger problem: The Fallen Solars AND the Nabassus or Balors can instakill Su´kka with a lucky vorpal hit. Whenever she uses Shield of Reflection she gets more vulnerable to any melee attack so HP goes down in no time.
    3. Sendai, Abazigal & Amelyssan can stun Su´kka or use some kind of knockout. This means: Whenever the protection runs out and is not refreshed immediately they might take Su´kka down quickly.
    4. Greater Malison hurts a lot and is making Su´kka vulnerable to the Fear Aura of Demons. It even goes through Magic Protection?!

At least i know now which enemy is stealing weapons: The Babau Demons are randomly grabbing and dropping them to the ground. The Weapon Slot still shows the Weapon Icon so it might take some time once you realize that your Throwing Axe is gone. Evil! :D

EDIT: Another fail. Su´kka killed Gromnir and Abazigal after some godlike kiting but finally Amelyssan catched her again.
Another Time Stop (how many can she cast?) -> Rage ran out (sure...) -> Stun (so obvious...) -> Death -> AAAAAAH!!!

EDIT 2: As there is enough room for maneuvering this time Su´kka used the BMU to get a little bit more protection from the Heavy Hitters. She kited as usual with the Throwing Axe +4 and Reflection Shield. Everyting worked fine: The Planetars vanished while Su´kka brought everyone - except for Yaga-Shura - down to badly injured while Sendai was just sleeping or teleporting around. Maybe this time Su´kka thought - and forgot about refreshing stun protection. Abazigal used exactly this moment to throw in his stun -> Su´kka failed to resist and had to watch helplessly how another life vanished in seconds...

EDIT 3: DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!! Illasera, Gromnir and Abzigal down but then again - a small moment where Greenstone Amulet runs out - BAMM! Its really hard to keep everything up in the heat of the battle - especially when the screen is constantly shaking from some earthquakes. To make it short: The stun triggered and Su´kkas life ended shortly after. What a pity. Give me something like Time Stop and Su´kka will stomp everyone into the ground. But without there are so many things that can go wrong - incoming stuns, saving heals, vorpal hits... i love this pain... lol... :D

Analysis of the Big Five after fail number 30+

Gromnir: Yes he uses Whirwind Attacks and is hunting Su´kka quite regularly but normal kiting puts him down easily as he moves too slow. Drinks several Healing Potions in between.

Illasera: She gets very dangerous if someone hastens her up as she can hit Su´kka with her Two-Handed-Sword even when on the run. Without Haste she can easily be tricked with Reflection Shield swapping as her own arrows are hitting quite hard. Together with one or two GWW´s she will go down quickly.

Yaga-Shura: Very, very durable opponent that is hard to take down. But as he moves very slow Su´kka can easily avoid and kite him. His Lava Bomb will hit his allies and knock them back - sometimes even to unaccessible areas so they get stuck there!

Abazigal: Slow but hitting like a truck. His protections are making it hard to take him down fast. On the good side: He is using his Time Stop only for casting crappy spells instead of hacking Su´kka apart. On the bad side: His immolation will stun and kill Su´kka easily!

Sendai: A slippery fish that normally is no big threat. But her Immolation stun and Onyx Ring Knockout can easily turn the the tides. She will also constantly try to heal badly injured allies - thats very annoying. She will use her Sling whenever Su´kka is near and can easily be tricked with Shield of Reflection.

If the whole battle was only to kill these Five eveything would be fine. But as soon as Amelyssan joins the party things are going down.

Amelyssan: Fast moving and teleporting. She will use several Time Stops to melee Su´kka down easily when caught unprepared. Her Demons and Fallen Solars are also annoying: Vorpal Hits + Stuns can mean a quick kill. She uses Spells like Immolation so constant Stun protection is needed. Thanks to all the running away, rebuffing and healing there is nearly no time for kiting anyone. Amelyssan alone would be a fair challenge but with all those adds Su´kka gets overwhelmed again and again and again...

It looks like there is no light at the end of the tunnel... :D

Another one bites the dust or: Cheators everywhere!!!!

This =?!$&)%"(?$Ö battle! Everything went perfectly as all of the Big Five went to badly injured while Su´kka disturbed Sendais spellcasting as much as possible while avoiding any stuns while exhausting any Dark Planetar or Fallen Solar while surviving the first TIme Stops while not getting caught by on of the Big Five while - well, until Su´kka finally managed to kill slippery Sendai hoping that the next one of the Big Fives would fall right after Amelyssans arrival. But what happened? Bloody Hell - the game crashed!!! Really. This is so sad. After kiting everyone down for half an hour a damn crash killed Su´kka. Now its clear: The game is cheating! :D

Why can't you kill Sendai first? Is someone resurrecting her? Then you could kill of the rest of the 5 yes?
